Why this event?

The idea of the joint event between Wärtsilä Italia S.p.A. and PMI®-Northern Italy Chapter FVG Branch was born with theintention of gathering all the professionals in Project Management in the Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) region and the surroundingareas. The objective is to create a space for networking, knowledge sharing and continuous learning for Project Managers.

The business environment has become more and more unpredictable and therefore all the organizations (Public, NGO andprofit-oriented) must be able to react quickly to changes and develop the ability to gather information from the businessenvironment. This has a major impact on projects too. The project structure shall be reactive itself, focus shall be put on theproject control in order to steer the project execution and make sure that the target is achieved. A key element for the effectiveproject execution is the Requirement Management.

The business environment is changing, so do the project requirements during the project execution. It is of primary importancefor the Project Managers and the Organizations to keep this in mind and develop processes and methodologies for a modernapproach to requirement management. The speakers of the event were selected so that they represent the essence of the FVG’s economy: the heavy industry (WärtsiläItalia S.p.A.), the series manufacturing industry (Freud S.p.A. – group Robert Bosch AG), the consulting (Quin S.r.l.) and thesoftware development services (MV Labs S.r.l.). They will share their own experiences in the application of methodologies suchas Agile, Design Thinking and Data Driven Management.

Title: Different projects – Different approaches – Unique aim: turn ideas into reality (Dario Morandotti – PMI-NIC)

Abstract: In the last five decades different project approaches have emerged to serve the need of organizations and peoplefor transformation and creation of better products or services. Different project approaches means different ways of capturingthe requirements from the «fuzzy front end» of project concept and initiation phase, down to the execution phases. As none ofthe approaches can fit all project types and organizational cultures the same applies for the requirement management. Theintroduction by Dario Morandotti will define the context of requirements management and will set the framework of the event.

Title: How agile changed software development (Steve Maraspin - MV Labs)

Abstract: Agile has had a considerable impact in the software industry for the past two decades. In this talk, we will follow itsjourney, from early inception to mainstream adoption. We will highlight what worked well and what did not, also taking intoaccount recent trends fostered by agile such as Cloud and DevOps. Finally we will dissect main agile principles and discoverhow to benefit from them, beyond software development.

Title: Agile transformation in a small reality (Vanessa Paladini – Freud S.p.A. – group Robert Bosch AG)

Abstract: What happens when a traditional organization meets the agile approach? How does the requirement managementchange by applying agile methods like “Design thinking”? The presentation shares early experiences of a wood cutting toolproducer during agile processes introduction in its product development. In particular, examples will be provided of agilemethods in real life industry practices which resulted in improved customer satisfaction.

In this speech, Luca Comello will guide us through a real experience within a big bank, talking about thedifficulties, mistakes and successes in requirements and execution management.

Title: Data Driven Requirements Management (Leonardo Ferrero – Wärtsilä Italia S.p.A.)

Abstract: The digital transformation has enabled new tools and ways to run our businesses. When an innovative product orservice is designed for the customers the project team can derive valuable information by gathering and analyzing data fromthe installed base in the field. The Data Driven Requirement Management has recently been developed and implemented inWärtsilä with the objective of understanding more in depth the needs of the market and consequently be faster with newproduct and service development.

Title: Round table (Dalia Vodice – Consultant and trainer)

At the end of the presentations a round table will be organized in order to give the opportunity to the speakers to discusstogether the different requirement management techniques. Dalia Vodice will facilitate the discussion among the presenterswith the aim of highlighting the uniqueness of each approach and wrap up the lessons learned during the day.
