New Delhi, Oct. 24 Prime Minister, Shri NarendraModi today said the success of theCOVID vaccination programmedisplays the capability of India. Hesaid the nation is surging ahead witha new zeal and energy after crossingthe 100 crore vaccine doses mark.Addressing the nation in his Mann KiBaat programme on All India Radio,Shri Modi said the figure of 100 crorevaccine doses might be huge but thereare lakhs of inspirational storiesbehind it.The Prime Minister said hehad a firm belief that the vaccinationcampaign will be successful since heis well acquainted with thecapabilities of the nation and itspeople. He said he knew thathealthcare workers would leave nostone unturned and set a new examplethrough their resolve. He said theyestablished a new benchmark inservice to humanity throughinnovation and sheer determination.

Quoting Sardar Patel, Shri Modi said people can take this country to loftierheights only through united efforts. He said there is a lot to learn from thelife and thoughts of Sardar Patel. Arachnis (Arachnisflosaeris) is an epiphytic, monopodialorchid commonly called as spider orchid or scorpionorchid. It is an outstanding cut flower with pretty longflower spikes and usually grown under protected condition.To make the production economical, a technology wasdeveloped to cultivate this orchid in pandal system in open.The low cost pandal type of support system was establishedwith concrete poles and plastic wire. By this new methodof cultivation, flowering was observed throughout the year

Spider orchid ( Arachnisflosaeris ) -a potential cut flower

with luxurious growth of the plant, whereas in conventional method of growing spider orchidunder protected condition, flowering was observed once in a year during November to January.Flowers are produced once in 13-15 days interval from an axillary bud of a plant. Once in threeyears, 50 to 60 cm terminal cuttings of the stems can be done and once rooted the same may beplanted near the mother plant in the same pole. When the new planted cuttings start bearing theold plants may be removed based on the vigour. By this way the Arachnis orchid productionsystem can be maintained permanently for year round harvest of cut flowers.Benefit:This technology can be utilized even by farmers with small holdings since spacingadopted between the poles is 30 cm x 45 cm. The selected organization would have the responsibility to motivate, identifyand select women to be trained in accordance with the criteria of the schemefrom villages/urban localities having a substantial minority population. Theorganizations will involve Head of the Gram Panchayat/Municipal Body/ LocalAuthority for identification/ selection of women trainees. The details of the trainees will be submitted by the organization before thestart of training through the Online Application Management System (OAMS)for Nai Roshni, once the project is approved. Although there will be no annualincome bar, a woman/parent or guardian of woman having annual incomenot exceeding Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources would be given preference inselection. They should be between the age group of 18 years to 65 years. The proposal should be submitted in the prescribed format through OnlineApplication Management System (OAMS).The link of OAMS is available onofficial website of Ministry of Minority Affairs i.e. www.minorityaffairs.gov.in. After filling up the complete proposal in the OAMS, a print of the samemay be taken and submitted to the District Collector/ District Magistrate fortheir recommendation in the prescribed format.
