Employment Bulletin Issue No. 06 (New Format) November 2019 Claimant Counts As of November 2019, the Claimant Count for the Nottinghamshire region is 430 higher than it was a month ago. This represents a change of 2.82%, which, in comparison to the East Midlands region, equates to a total that is 0.22% higher. For the City of Nottinghamshire, there is now a total of 9,730 claimants. In comparison, the County has 12,075, which is made up of 6,910 males and 5,165 females, a split of 57.2% to 42.8%. The claimant count also increased in all seven Local Authority Districts in the region, over the month. The largest increase was in Ashfield, which saw a rise of 75 individuals, equalling a change of 3.30%. This is followed by Mansfield with an increase of 50 individuals, Newark and Sherwood and Rushcliffe, which both rose by 30 individuals, and Broxtowe, which saw an increase of 25 claimants. The smallest increase was seen in both Bassetlaw and Gedling, which saw rises of only 15 individuals. Percentage wise, this represents a change of 0.81% and 0.88% respectively. Across the Districts gender wise, Ashfield has the greatest number of claimants with 2,340. This is broken down by 980 females and 1,360 males. The lowest is Rushcliffe with 965 claimants, made up of 420 females and 545 males. As for the Parliamentary Constituencies, claimants increased in seven of the eight during November. The largest was in Ashfield, with a rise of 75 over the previous month, representing a 3.93% growth. The smallest increase occurred in both Bassetlaw and Broxtowe, which saw rises of 20 individuals, equalling 1.11% and 1.68% respectively. Gedling experienced neither an increase or decrease over the month, instead remaining on 1495 claimants. Compared to a year ago, the rates of change across Parliamentary Constituencies range from 17.10% in Bassetlaw, to 88.64% in Rushcliffe. The average rate of change across all eight areas is 53.18%. Additionally, against the previous month, all four of the TTWA’s have increased their claimant numbers. Nottingham saw the largest growth, growing by 260 individuals, or 1.55%. This is followed by Mansfield, which increased by 170 claimants, and Lincoln, which increased by 70. The lowest growth over the month was in Worksop and Retford, where an increase of only 15 claimants was seen, equalling a rise of 0.75%. Of the Wards within the Nottinghamshire area, Oak Tree, which is within the Mansfield district, continues to have the highest percentile of claimants with 147 individuals, representing 7.80% of its 16-64 workforce population. Comparatively, Tollerton, which is found within the Rushcliffe district, has the lowest rate. Here there are only 5 claimants, or 0.30% of its 16-64 workforce population. Claimant Counts

As of November 2019, the Claimant Count for the Nottinghamshire region is 430 higher than it was a month ago. This represents a change of 2.82%, which, in comparison to the East Midlands region, equates to a total that is 0.22% higher.

For the City of Nottinghamshire, there is now a total of 9,730 claimants. In comparison, the County has 12,075, which is made up of 6,910 males and 5,165 females, a split of 57.2% to 42.8%.

The claimant count also increased in all seven Local Authority Districts in the region, over the month. The largest increase was in Ashfield, which saw a rise of 75 individuals, equalling a change of 3.30%. This is followed by Mansfield with an increase of 50 individuals, Newark and Sherwood and Rushcliffe, which both rose by 30 individuals, and Broxtowe, which saw an increase of 25 claimants.

The smallest increase was seen in both Bassetlaw and Gedling, which saw rises of only 15 individuals. Percentage wise, this represents a change of 0.81% and 0.88% respectively.
