Let’s Empathize

I ask 3 of my friends about how they felt of the transition school-to-work. Each one of

them has different backrounds and I worked specifically with each one, asking questions about their feelings, difficulties and positive

aspects they apply to their lives.

What do you think about it?

•  I consider it’s difficult, because after school you have lots of knowledge in your hands, but it’s a small amount you apply at work, and it can be frustrating. Also I consider that when you’ve been accepted to a job, you enter to a competitive world, due to the fact that you have to keep your job. But I also think that this helps you strenghten your character and you become more responsible.

So you feel sometimes is frustration for our self

confidence?

•  Yes, but it lasts for a bit, later, this changes to something more productive.

What do you feel about working in different laboratories?

•  It’s different to work in each laboratory, because sometimes you’ve gotta deal with a demanding boss, or a close-minded work team or even with a proyect you don’t like.

What difficulties do you see in this school-to-work transition?

•  Lots of knowledge learned and you apply a little bit of it, this can cause frustration

•  Competition •  Stressing environment in the moment you

know you have to keep your job before someone hires another person rather than you

•  Do a better job, in an efficient manner, trying to contribute in what’s requested

•  Always being critical with one’s job and also others in a good way.

•  Accept reviews form others •  Being cordial •  If people ask for help, I’ll be there for

them.

What do you think about it?

•  The truth, the truth is that I feel afraid because I’m changing of environment, and I have to apply the things I learned at school and I don’t know if I could accomplish the expectatives. It’s a big emotion because I’ll meet new people and because I’ll learn how the things are in the real world, because it’s not the same stuff you see at school.
