Pastoral Center Update
Dear Parishioners,
All Saints Day on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2 highlight the closing
days of October. Because All Saints Day is a solemnity it takes the place of the
Sunday Mass so the prayers of the Mass for Sunday, November 1 are for All Saints.
This is an opportunity to reflect upon the holy children, women and men in the
history of our Catholic Faith who have a'ained sainthood through canoniza)on.
O*en)mes another important category of extraordinary persons who have le* a
legacy of faith, hope and love are included, however this is best le* to the mercy of
God. The process of canoniza)on is a lengthy research into the life of the person and
inves)ga)on into the miracles a'ributed to them by specialists in theology,
psychology and medicine. Once the requirements are fulfilled, then the Pope adds
the name to the canon (list) of saints. This preroga)ve of the Pope is associated with his unique ministry of
Saint Peter given to him by Christ and recorded in the Gospels.
The same is true for All Souls. This is a unique day when we pray for all of the souls of the faithful departed.
The effec)veness of this kind of prayer is related to the sharing of spiritual goods. Spiritual goods cons)tute
the treasury of holiness that accumulates within all of the layers of the Church. These accumulated goods are
shared with those who are in need in what is called supernatural charity. The beau)ful prayer taught by Our
Lady to the holy children of Fa)ma explains this very well: “O my Jesus, forgive us our sins and save us from
the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are most in need of thy mercy.”
The opening days of November, the first and second are an opportunity to develop our capacity to long for the
bea)tude of Heaven and to reform our hearts by an impulse of goodness and to ac)vely help all the souls of
the faithful departed to find their way to the place where we long to join them.
Your Pastor,
Father David
Weather permitting they will begin the install of block retaining walls and continue framing of the
first and second floor. See the pictures noting Fr. David’s office and meeting rooms.

1 de noviembre de 2020
Queridos Feligreses,

Hope After Loss
Mass
Advent is a season of
family, friends, preparation
and celebration. However,
this season can also be a
time of difficulty as we are
reminded of the absence
of loved ones.
In these times of grief
and loss, we turn to the
Lord for hope, strength,
and consolation. The Hope
after Loss Mass helps to
give purpose to our
longing for those souls we
miss due to natural death
such as illness, disease,
miscarriages, or unnatural
death such as violence,
accidents and abortions.
Please join us on
Wednesday, November
18, at 5:30 PM for this
special Mass.
Reception to follow in
the narthex.

Today’s Gospel
When you are merciful, you are kind and
forgiving. Your actions teach others how to love
God and each other. You comfort those who are
crying. You share money, food, and clothing
with those who need it. You forgive the people
who hurt you. When you are kind and forgiving
to other people, they will also be kind and
forgiving to you.
