The British legacy in Huelva can be seen in its heritage. The most remarkable examples are the Casa Colón and the Loading Bay of the Rio Tinto Company Ltd. The local cemetery holds William Martin’s mortal remains. He was the man who never was, a key charac-ter for the development of World War II.

The evolution of the city centre of Huelva can be appreciated in its buildings — we can see construction from different historical periods from San Pedro, the most ancient zone, to the modern Loading Bay area.

Christopher Columbus prayed at the Chapel of La Cinta in gratitude for the success of his first expedition. Other monuments related to the Discovery of America are the Monumento a La Fe Descubridora (Gertrude Whitney, 1929) and the Monument to Christopher Columbus.

Thanks to its archaeological riches, Huelva is considered a millennial city. We must remark findings from the culture of Tartessos at the site of La Joya, the Roman and Mediaeval Necropolis, sewer rests from the Roman Empire, and the Wall of San Pedro.
