The SUBARU XV achieves inspiring levels of response and efficiency with Lineartronic.By keeping the engine running in its optimal rev range and preserving the momentum that’s often lost during a gear shift, this unique transmission dramatically maximises fuel efficiency. Lineartronic is also longitudinally paired with an active torque split AWD system that responds to traction conditions by continuously controlling the torque distribution front to rear.

6-Speed Manual Transmission + Viscous Centre Differential AWD

Geared for exciting response and control, the 6-speed manual transmission enables you to define your own driving style. It features Auto Vehicle Hold to help you avoid rolling when starting on a hill. The gearbox is paired with an AWD system utilising a viscous limited-slip centre differential (LSD). Whenever the balance of traction changes, the LSD instantaneously redistributes the torque to the front and rear wheels as needed.

Few cars deliver the thrilling eagerness and spontaneity of the SUBARU XV. It’s achieved with the horizontally-opposed SUBARU BOXER engine, which places the pistons 180 degrees apart for a lower, flatter profile compared to other engine types. This gives the powerplant — and by extension the whole car — a lower centre of gravity and more balanced weight distribution. In addition, the pistons’ opposing movements counteract each other, which naturally reduces vibration.

The ring-shaped reinforcement frame strengthens the passenger cabin from the roof to the doors, pillars and floor. This helps divert and dissipate impact energy away from the occupants in a collision. The frame for the SUBARU XV features a high-tensile steel design that are strong and rigid yet lighter weight.

Seats, Seatbelts and SRS* Airbags

The SUBARU XV features whiplash-reducing front seats and energy-absorbing head restraints that can help better protect front occupants from injury during a rear collision. Even the rear seats have been optimised for protection,with the seating position set back to reduce the effects ofa side impact. Front, front-side, and curtain SRS* airbagsare standard on most models.

Cabin-protecting Layout

Every Subaru goes above and beyond common practice when it comes to your safety. In the event of a head-on collision, your SUBARU XV’s SUBARU BOXER engine and gearbox are designed to avoid crashing into the cabin for your protection.

Vehicle Dynamics Control System

Via an array of sensors, the Vehicle Dynamics Control System monitors and analyses if the vehicle is following the driver’s intended course. If a tyre slips or a high speed turn causes the vehicle off its intended path, the AWD torque distribution, engine output and brakes at each wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping the vehicle on course.

Visibility

To avoid danger, you have to see it coming—and the SUBARU XV is designed for the driver to have maximum awareness of the surroundings. The high vantage point of the SUBARU XV and dynamic cabin-forward design with its triangular window partition minimise blind spots with improved visibility.What’s more, the available rear vision camera gives you an even clearer view of what’s behind.

Brakes

The Antilock Braking System includes electronic brake-force distribution to reapportion front and rear braking pressure when the vehicle is loaded. For more predictable and controlled braking during an emergency, the SUBARU XV features both Brake Assist and Brake Override.

To help you avoid accidents, and protect you when they can’t be avoided, the SUBARU XV is equipped with an assortment of active and passive safety features. Subaru Active Safety helps you circumvent trouble with predictable handling, precise control and excellent visibility plus advanced technologies that help you avoid incidents before they happen.
