thirst for righteousness, because they will be filled. 10

Intro – A Revolution For some of you, there is something in you that

cries out for more… I’m not promising you a joy-ride, but I am

calling you to a revolution… …if you take hold of Jesus you will never be the

same again, because you can’t take hold of eternity and casually settle for the disappointing vanity of this life.

First Two Points:

1. God's Standard is High2. If We Don't Meet it We

Will Be Condemned

12

1. God's Standard is High

13

Luk 14:25-35 Jos.Trans.

And great crowds went with him and he turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and even his very own soul as well, his life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple…

- READ Verses 28-32 -

14

Because which of you wanting to build a tower doesn't sit down first and count the cost if he has the means to finish? 29 That it doesn't happen after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish that all who see it begin to mock him 30 saying, ‘This man began to build, and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king going to engage another king in war doesn't sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 But if not, while the other is still a great way off he sends a delegation4242 and asks for conditions of peace. 15

Luk 14:33-35 Jos.Trans.

…So in the same way, everyone of you who does not forsake everything that he has cannot be my disciple. 34 Salt is good: but if the salt has lost its flavor how will it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but they cast it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

16

Mat 10:32-39 Jos.Trans.So any and everyone who confesses3670, (1722) me in

front of men, I will also confess him in front of my Father who is in the heavens. 33 But whoever will deny me in front of men, I will also deny him in front of my Father who is in the heavens. 34 Don’t think that I came to send peace on earth: I have not come to send peace, but a sword.

17

Mat 10:36-39 Jos.Trans.35 Because I have come to set a man against his

own father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter in law against her mother in law, and a man's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me, 38 and he that does not take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. 39 He that finds his soul, his life, will lose it. But he that loses his soul for my sake will find it.

18

Mar 8:38 Jos.Trans. So whoever will be ashamed of me and of my

words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

19

Anything less than absolute commitment to

Jesus falls short of His standard, and makes us unworthy of Him.

The Standard God set is high. We have absolutely no right to lower it.

20

Jesus Set It HighMat 5:17 WEB "Don't think that I came to destroy

the law or the prophets. I didn't come to destroy, but to fulfill. (Read: Mat 5:17-20)

In fact, Jesus set it so High He left people wondering…

Luk 13:23-24 WEB One said to him, "Lord, are they few who are saved?" He said to them, 24 "Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able. (Read: Luk 13:23-30)

READ Mat 7:13-14: “The Narrow Gate”“14 …and there are a few who find it.” 21

What Is Peter’s Reaction? 1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous is scarcely

saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?

So…

Phil 2:12 ...continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, (Compare 2Pe 1:3-11)

22

2. If We Don't Meet it We Will Be CondemnedWhat does He mean:“Not Worthy of Me" or "Can't Be My Disciple"?

23

Don’t Be Disqualified!

1Cor 9:27 WEB but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected96.

[αδοκιμος96 – disqualified/rejected]2Cor 13:5 WEB Test your own selves, whether you

are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don't you know as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified96.

[αδοκιμος96 – disqualified/rejected]24

2Ti 2:19-22 WEB

However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness." 20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor.

25

2Ti 2:19-22 WEB

21 If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

[Compare Rom 9:6-33 and Eph 2:1-3]

26

Mat 7:16-20 Jos.Trans.

You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bears good fruit; but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, by their fruits you will know them. (see v. 16-23)

27

1Jn. 3:6-10 Whoever remains in Him does not continue to sin. Whoever continues to sin has not seen Him, or known Him. 7 Little children, don’t let anyone deceive you: he that does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He that continues to sin is of the devil; because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this reason the Son of GOD was revealed, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever is born of GOD does not continue to sin; for His seed remains in him: and he cannot go on sinning, because he is born of GOD. 10 In this the children of GOD and the children of the devil are revealed: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of GOD…

Let’s Talk Holiness

2Co 6:17 Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing. And I will receive you 18 and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

(Also: Isa 52:11/Ezk 20:34, 41)

30

Let’s Talk Holiness

1Jn 2:15-17 WEB Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's. 17 The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever.

Fire Deu 4:24 Jos.Trans. For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Heb 12:29 KJV For our God is a consuming fire.

Rev 1:12-16 Jos.Trans. …his eyes were as a flame of fire…

(A) Is God in you? (B) Isn’t God a “Consuming Fire?”(C) Is God in you? (D) How would you dare answer “yes” if your life was cold or lukewarm ?

Describing Jesus →

- John The Baptist

Joh 5:35 WEB [Speaking of John the Baptist…]

He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

And what does God demand from us? Rev 3:15-16 WEB "I know your works, that you are

neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.

Fear God, and Respond!

2Co 5:11 Jos.Trans. So knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men…

Psa 2:11-12 KJ2000 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

35

- Pray “Lord Open My eyes!”- Taste and see that the Lord

is good (Psa 34:8)- If you’re not forsaking all,

you are still blind- Humility in crying out (Jas 4)
