I liked the teaching because they had interactive lessons which permitted us to talk a lot. Activities were good too because we got to know students from other countries.Marco, Italy

Exciting academic programmesEnglish language classes

Our English language classes are designed

specifically for short-term language courses.

With a maximum of 15 students per class,

you will improve your English by focusing on

speaking and listening.

Culture Club

Our English classes will improve your speaking

skills and increase interaction and classroom

participation. And, with many of our students

going on to further education courses that will

be conducted in English, we also run a series

of lively lectures as an alternative to some of

the sports and arts options. These allow you to

practice the note-taking and listening skills you

will need in an academic environment.

Embassy ICT

Technology plays an increasingly important part in

modern education. Many of our summer centres

have classrooms equipped with data projectors,

computers and, in some cases, interactive

whiteboards. This enables us to use video,

flipcharts and CD-ROMs in classes.

Don’t worry, be happy!Student welfare is paramount

We offer a high standard of care and supervision

to all our students. Each centre has a nominated

welfare officer who ensures you are happy and

well cared for throughout your stay. We also have

a guardian system for our individual students in

our junior centres. In addition, there are on-site

first aiders and established links with local

doctors, dentists and hospitals for any first aid

issues that may arise.

All students under the age of 18 should be

aware that for all parts of their programme

(lessons and activities) attendance is compulsory.

Students under 18 will not be allowed to leave

the centre unaccompanied at any time*.

* Please note that this does not apply in our adult

centres (16+)

embassyces.com/summer p8...

I think that this holiday is an important experience because it gives us the opportunity to visit new and different places and meet lots of other students of different nationalities.Friederike, Germany

Page 9: EMBASSY SUMMER BROCHURE

embassyces.com/summer p9...

Arrival in the country

Embassy Summer provides a meet and greet

service for all students who have requested a

transfer to the centre. All students under the

age of 18 travelling to or from a centre must be

accompanied by an adult. You will be met on

arrival and taken to your accommodation.

For students aged 18 or over, or those travelling

with a parent or guardian, we will provide

information and directions to the centre.

Help during your stay

On arrival at the centre, you will be welcomed

by our staff and receive a full induction to

enable you to settle in quickly and enjoy your

stay with us.

All students are issued with an ID Card during

their stay, for which you should bring a passport

photograph. Students must keep the ID Card with

them at all times, it contains not only the address

of the centre, but important telephone numbers

should you require assistance. Students with any

enquiries or problems can speak to our staff at

the centre, or contact our 24-hour emergency

telephone service.

StudyCare insurance

It is essential that all students travelling

abroad have adequate insurance in case of a

medical or other emergency. Embassy offers a

comprehensive insurance policy called StudyCare

which is specifically designed to meet the needs

of international students. Please contact

us for more details of this policy.

Medical conditions

For the safety of all students and so that we may

provide proper care, it is imperative that students

make us fully aware of any medical or psychiatric

conditions that are being treated. We reserve the

right to refuse enrolments from students who we

feel will not be able to participate fully in our

programmes. Students who do not properly

notify us of a condition may be excluded from

the programme.

All enrolments are subject to the following conditions which become

legally binding on acceptance of enrolment by Embassy Summer.

1. Payment of Fees

All fees including application fee must be paid in full no later than

14 days before arrival. Transfers and accommodation will not be

confirmed until all monies have been paid in full.

2. Services

The company reserves the right to change the particulars of

the services, including changes to courses, locations, facilities

and dates of the programmes where circumstances beyond

the company’s control necessitate such changes or where the

number of bookings received does not reach the minimum

numbers required to operate a course viably.

3. General Refund Policy

All refunds will be sent to the account of the Embassy

representative to whom the fees were originally paid, or to

the individual from whom Embassy has received the original

direct payment. If a student’s visa application is rejected after

payment has been received all fees, excluding any cancellation

fees detailed in the Cancellation Policy below, will be refunded

within 28 days, provided a visa refusal letter is received by

our International Admissions Centre at least 2 working days

before the course is due to start and the student has fulfilled all

requirements for a visa application. No refund will be made if a

visa rejection is based on student’s failure to meet the necessary

criteria for their chosen visa category.

Students in Los Angeles and San Francisco must sign a California

State Enrolment & Refund Agreement form. Refunds will be

processed according to these terms and conditions.

Australia In Australia this agreement, and the availability of

complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of

the student to take action under Australia’s consumer protection

laws. Refunds will be provided to students within 28 days if the

student defaults and within 14 days if the school defaults. In the

unlikely event that the school is unable to deliver a course in full,

the student will be offered a refund of all the course money paid

to date. The refund will be paid within 14 days of the day on which

the course ceased being provided. Alternatively, the student may

be offered enrolment in a suitable alternative course by the school

at no extra cost. The student has the right to choose whether

they would prefer a full refund of course fees, or to accept a

place on another course. If they choose placement on another

course, Embassy will ask them to sign a document to indicate

acceptance of the placement.

If the school is unable to provide a refund or place the student

on an alternative course our Tuition Assurance Scheme (TAS)

provider will place them on a suitable alternative course at no

extra cost. Finally, if the TAS provider cannot place the student in

a suitable alternative course, the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager

will attempt to place them on a suitable alternative course or,

if this is not possible, the student will be eligible for a refund as

calculated by the Fund Manager.

should therefore plan to arrive on Sunday. Students or groups

who join international programmes midweek may not be able to

be integrated into international classes until the following Monday.

Lessons

In some centres lessons may take place either in the morning

students having lessons in the afternoon one week will normally

have morning lessons the following week.

Age limits

There is a minimum and maximum age limit for some of the

Embassy Summer schools, as indicated in the brochure. For

applications outside the recommended age range, Embassy

Summer will have the final decision. Students below the

minimum age for a centre will only be accepted in exceptional

circumstances. They must be accompanied by an adult leader

who will take full responsibility for their safety and welfare, and

they may not be included in classes unless there is a suitable

class for them.

Embassy ICT

Technology plays an increasingly important part in modern

education and here at Embassy we endeavour to be market

leaders. Many of the summer centres we use have classrooms

equipped with data projectors, computers and, in some cases,

interactive white-boards. This enables us to include video, flipcharts

and CD-ROMs into the lesson.

Trinity Examination

We are pleased to offer students travelling to the UK the Trinity

Examination in Spoken English at all of our centres. The cost for

2012 will be £65 per student for levels 1-6 and £85 for levels 7-12.

This cost does not include preparation classes, however we can

offer these at an additional cost of £20 per student for a total of

four hours whilst at the centre. These classes will be run as group

classes. Please note that the Trinity Examination is subject to a

minimum number of 12 participants, and we are happy to advise

you if that number has been reached at your chosen location.

All Trinity Examination bookings must be submitted by

30 May 2012.

Register of sponsor

Embassy Summer is accredited for the provision of English and

Academic courses for overseas students through the UKBA

This means that unlike those providers who are not accredited,

we are fully able to assist you in obtaining your students’ visas for

studying in the UK.
