I am reaching out to you to see if you would like to do story about the upcoming annual fundraiser, Marjaree’s Mardi Gras Birthday Soirée—to be held on Sat. March 18.

This event is centered around the vibrant and exciting Mardi Gras theme and celebrates the life and legacy of the late Marjaree Mason.

It is an invitation for guests to step up onto Burbon Street to enjoy cocktails, a delicious sit-down dinner, live and silent auctions and live music by The Valley Cats.

Photo opportunities will be available during the silent auction and the live performance by The Valley Cats.

If you would like to interview our executive director, Nicole Dibuduo Linder, or The Valley Cats or attendees from previous years prior to this event let me know and we can schedule. MMGBS event details:

The Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) was founded in 1979, after the tragic death of Marjaree Mason. For the past thirty-five years, the Center has operated Fresno County’s only dedicated provider of domestic violence shelter and support services, including education for victims and youth.

Subject Line: Story Idea: Candlelight Vigil to Commemorate Domestic Violence Victims

Hi Bob,

Hope all is well with you and the Fresno Bee. Really enjoying your coverage!

I want to encourage you to write a story about the Candlelight Vigil—to be held on Friday, May 26.

This event will be held in order to commemorate all the domestic violence victims who have had a tragic end to their lives. We hope to give families a time to remember them and to express of a moment of grief.

One Marjaree Mason’s family member will be our guest speaker for this event. He/she will speak about the legacy of Marjaree Mason and how her family took this tragedy and worked to turn it into an opportunity to support domestic violence victims.

Our guest speaker would love to do a phone interview for a story.

CV event details: Friday, May 26 6-8 p.m. Marjaree Mason Center. 1600 M Street, Fresno, CA 93721 Cost: stick candles will be sold 30 minutes before the event for a $5 donation.

Photo opportunities will be available throughout the event. But more specifically as the attendees light up their candles and take a moment of silence.
