| Asia to lead in global energy demand

IEA, World Energy Outlook, 2014 *Energy demand in Mtoe

Primary energy demand* and the share of global growth

• China, India and Middle East will drive one-third of global energy demand.

• By 2035, energy demand in OECD countries is expected to be less than half of non-OECD

countries.

| Southeast Asia: A region in transition ASEAN Electricity Generation Capacity

Southeast Asia’s energy demand is set to increase by over 80% between 2013 and 2035, a rise

equivalent to current demand in Japan.

• Coal is expected to remain as the dominant fuel for the region, accounting for 58% of growth in

electricity generation in ASEAN by 2035

• LNG is likely to be used as an alternative fuel to meet peak demands, provide flexibility or to address

environmental concerns

• Growing potential for renewable energy

| A cleaner and greener Southeast Asia?

ASEAN Electricity Generation from Renewables

IEA, WEO Special Report on Southeast Asia Energy Outlook, 2013

Southeast Asia has large and untapped potential in deploying renewable energy.

• Key uses for rural electrification and diversity of energy supplies

| Transition fuels: Southeast Asia’s LNG landscape

LNG Terminals in Southeast Asia

Gas is a dominant part of Southeast Asia’s energy mix: growth in LNG supplies and infrastructure

in the region from 141 bcm in 2011 to 250 bcm in 2035.

• Increasing short-term and spot trades

• Increasing number of global LNG suppliers and buyers

• Numerous import/ export terminal infrastructure development projects underway

• Buyers’ seeking more flexibility in source and price

IEA, The Asian Quest for LNG in a Globalising Market, 2014

| LNG has good potential for trading opportunities

• Proximity to both traditional and emerging LNG supply and demand

• Neutral marketplace

• Established trading and financial hub with existing support infrastructure and services

• Singapore LNG terminal will be Asia’s first open-access multi-user terminal with both import

and export capability

Singapore’s Potential as Asia’s LNG hub

| Growing Solar Interest in Singapore

Market interest in solar has been growing in Singapore. Since 2009,

• The number of installations has increased from 59 to 636 (end 2014)

• The installed capacity has increased from 1.5 MWac to 25.5 MWac (end 2014)

The take-up is expected to accelerate over the next few years, as prices fall and technology

continues to improve.
