From Elvis In Memphis: Legacy Edition

Elvis Presley's Memphis sessions proved that sometimes you can go home again. It was January 1969, and Elvis had not recorded in his hometown since leaving Sun Records for RCA in 1955. Got an Elvis Story? Graceland Wants to Hear It

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Managers of Elvis Presley's Graceland are looking for people with personal stories to tell about the king of rock 'n' roll for an oral history enterprise called the Elvis Presley Legacy Project. The stories are being videotaped and will become part of Graceland's archives. Examples can be found on the Graceland Web site. "If you encountered Elvis and have a story to share with the world, we would love to include you in this project," Graceland says on the site, which has a "submit your story" link. The project is scheduled to run through Jan. 8, 2010, which would have been Presley's 75th birthday. He died at Graceland of heart disease and drug abuse on Aug. 16, 1977 at age 42.

At www.SingWithTheKing.com fans can watch the new Elvis Presley and Martina McBride 'Blue Christmas' video, record their own version 'Blue Christmas' with Elvis and then send it to friends and family along with a personal message in the form of a holiday e-card. Elvis Presley is a premiere-selling artist every holiday season and his releases populate the holiday charts year after year. Despite the fact that he only recorded 20 Christmas songs, Presley's various holiday albums have sold over 25 million copies in the US. Elvis Presley’s "Christmas Duets"

On October 14, SONY BMG Music Entertainment, in partnership with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., will release the "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" CD, which is the first Elvis Presley duet recordings album and the first Christmas compilation of its kind ever produced. This release marks yet another milestone in Elvis Presley's legacy, 31 years after his death. The CD will feature many of today's biggest country artists, including Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans and LeAnn Rimes singing classic Elvis holiday songs with Elvis Presley. "There has been tremendous excitement from the many artists contributing their voices to these Elvis Christmas classics. We believe Elvis fans will truly enjoy these unique collaborations while introducing Elvis' holiday classics to the many fans of his duet partners," says Joe Galante, Chairman, Sony BMG Nashville. In order to create these classic "duets" Sony BMG used the most advanced and sophisticated audio technology available. For songs that were recorded on one track, mono, musical beds were created to perfectly match the instrumentation and arrangements contained on the originals. In the case of songs that have been recorded in multi-track where Elvis' vocal is isolated on a single track, the vocal was simply dropped for a given verse or chorus, making room for the duet artist. To be as faithful as possible to the original recordings, the fabled RCA Studio B in Nashville - the same studio that Elvis recorded the 1971 original Christmas session in, was used.

"This is an excellent example of the innovative ways in which we keep Elvis' catalog fresh for new and existing fans, and continue the history of creating, preserving and celebrating his great music," says John Ingrassia, President of the Sony BMG Commercial Music Group. "We are so pleased that these accomplished artists are collaborating with Elvis in this unique way to make exciting new versions of his Christmas songs. I am sure Elvis would be proud to have worked with them," says Priscilla Presley. Elvis is one of the biggest-selling artists every holiday season, although he only recorded 20 Christmas songs, his various holiday albums have sold over 25 million copies in the US alone. “ELVIS – THE COMPLETE ’68 COMEBACK SPECIAL” on 8.5. 08

(Sony BMG/NY) In June of 1968 Elvis Presley saved his career and made the best music of his life. These accomplishments are attributed to the legendary "ELVIS" TV Special.

The Special which was sponsored by Singer Sewing Machines was the first time that Elvis had performed in front of a live audience in 7 years. In what was supposed to be a Christmas Special, Elvis, clad in his trademark black leather suit, performed emotional renditions of his greatest hits and more recent songs in different settings including an intimate unplugged session. The edited 60 minute version aired on December 4th 1968 on NBC. It was the network's highest ratings and the season's number-one rated show. The "ELVIS" Special was so successful not only for NBC but also for Elvis' career that it is more commonly referred to as the infamous "'68 Comeback Special" and has become one of the major moment in music

history.

On August 5th, Sony BMG celebrates the 40th anniversary of the legendary Special with the release of a deluxe 4 CD set entitled - "ELVIS – THE COMPLETE '68 COMEBACK SPECIAL."

The deluxe package includes the entire recordings from the taping of the "ELVIS" TV Special – the production numbers, the two black leather stand-up shows, the two black leather sit-down shows and rehearsals. It contains 87 tracks on 4 CDs – 20 which have never been released before to the general public as well as a 32 page booklet with detailed liner notes, photos and memorabilia.

Also available are the Elvis: '68 Comeback Special Deluxe (3 disc set) and single DVDs.
