Exercise Room Expanded; New Meeting Space Defined
The new year was the perfect
time to do some in-house re-
purposing of space at Elmhurst.
Our former board room on the
ground floor has now become
our residents’ exercise room.
Our three times weekly exercise
classes are now held in this area
where a wall of windows pro-
vides lots of light to energize
everyone as they get fit. The
exercise bike and treadmill have
been moved to this room, as
well.
Our beautiful new board room
was formerly the billiards room.
The antique pool table was re-
turned to the Warwood Home
for Men who had lent it to
Elmhurst years ago. The room,
which had been restored to its
original character through the
Elizabeth Stifel Kline Founda-
tion several years ago, will now
host the monthly board meet-
ings as well as private events.
The proximity to the kitchen
will facilitate any event held
there that requires meals.
A cozy sitting area is now situ-
ated in the fourth floor lobby
and the ground floor activity
room has some new seating.
Executive Director Jamie Crow stands in the
new Elizabeth Stifel Kline Board Room, at
left. A beautiful Victorian-style chandelier
adds new light to the room. Residents’ fitness
classes get underway in the new, brightly lit
exercise room, above.
We started the new year off with a visit from Gordy, the miniature horse who re-sides at the Oglebay Stables, much to the delight of our equine lovers. Thanks to
Melanee Sinclair, right, a Bethany College associ-ate professor who is Gordy’s owner, and Amy McGreal, opera'ons manager at the Oglebay Sta-bles, we had a great 'me.

Jamie Crow, Execuve Director
Winter may have decided to make an appearance
in late January, but we’re looking forward to
Spring’s arrival next month and all the newness it
brings. In an'cipa'on, Elmhurst decided to bring
some of that “new” to our home, as well.
We’ve re-purposed some areas to make them more user-
friendly for residents. We’ve created a new exercise center in
the former board room. The wall of windows has made this a
perfect area to get us up and moving at exercise classes and for
those who use the exercise equipment.
The new board/mee'ng room is also a great use of exis'ng
space for regular mee'ngs and other events. Furniture has ben
moved and sea'ng areas revamped in other areas of the house.
Our Friends of Elmhurst organizaon is growing in numbers by
leaps and bounds. We look forward to their future projects.
Speaking of the future, our annual Picnic is scheduled for Satur-
day, August 8. The local band, “Hit Play,” will provide music this
year. Circle your calendar for this annual event.
The Residents’ Welcome Commi.ee has been reinvigorated
this year and is looking forward to greeng newcomers. Bravo!
Happy Valen'ne Day to everyone. We love you! - Jamie
