ELM Databases…again!

• Reference librarians from MINITEX will lead our in-person sessions and show:–Search and journal alerts–RSS feeds from databases–Saving items in social bookmarking

sites–Workspaces in Britannica–Possibly other things, too

Based upon your questions…

• Today I’ll show:–Searching for scholarly resources–Finding items in ELM based upon

citation–Finding Pro versus Con arguments

Not full text in database – now what?

• No full text in a database means it’s just not full text in THAT database

• Two options:–First…use Publication Title Search

on ELM to see if the journal (or magazine, newspaper) is in any other database

Second option…

• Publication Title List does not guarantee access to all journals, magazines and newspapers–You may not find the article

available through ELM

• Second option – ASK A LIBRARIAN!– There is interlibrary loan. Takes longer,

but it can get you access to articles.

Before our next meeting…

• Familiarize yourself better with the ELM databases website–When the MINITEX librarians tell you

go to into the Academic Search Premier database, you should be able to do this without further instruction–Use the Publication Search to find a

publication you may want to follow. Have this in mind when the MINITEX librarians show up.
