Since there were no spare huts in wnich to stay we camped out,

    v / e did our cooking on

    an

open fire. Unfolding our camp cots on

    the open

    plain

    we weighted

    them

    down

    with

    covers,went-to.bed - a n d

    were-

    soon asleep,

I aw akened about midnight with a cold

    wind

    blowing in my face

    and

    tnat

    was

    the last I

    slept,_for

    I lay

    tnere

    and

    shivered until

    daylight. It

    was

    sure cold,

    i

    wa s sure

    there

    v r a s

    ice floating

    on

    the

    lake

    the next

    morning,

    but later

    saw it

    was

    only

    s c u r a .

    It

    wasn^t long until

    most of

    tne

    people

    heard that

    there

    was a

    doctor

    in

    cempthe

    night

    before I had treaited a

    woman wno was

    in bed with the

    flu. Before

    we haa left

    tnere about

    noon I

    nad

    visited almost every hut

    tnere were

    25

    or 50

    of

    t n e r a )

    and

    had treated

    from

    one

    to

    three

    people in

    each house, be saw

    infirmities encluding everything

    from a

    little 4 ear-old boy

    with

    a

    cleft

    i j a l a t e

    and rickets to a

    men

    with his lips blistered

    by the wind- and sun,

    I

even had an opportunity of treating their

    livestock,

    but

    I

    just

    didn^t feel,up

    to

    it. For

    p ay we received

a chicken, cheese, molasses made of cactus, bread, milk, and

    one

    family wanted

    to give

    us

    a

young goat for meat but I refused

    it

    since

    r a

    y

    services weren^t worth that

    mucn.

    That same day

    we visited

    txiree

    other

    villages

    in

    which

    I

    was

    busy constantly listening

    to

    peoples'a complaints. I saw a

    woman wno had

    a cancer,

    one

    with tuberculosis,

    one

    with bad

    e^^es,

    one w i i - t h bad teeth and one

    wno

    had

    terrible

    headaches and dizzy

    spells. Besides those there

    were

    many others.

    We

    arrived back in Saltillo

    on

    Wednesdaytired,

    dirt^ and

    all

    thankful for w^onderful

    experiences

    we had

    during

    our

    tnree-day

    vacation.

I i r i enclosing Northrups^ latest report. It is being sent out

    oniy

    The

above mentioned Juan Luna is now the

    gregations. His v:eekly walking

    schedule

    is a notable

    case of

    wearing out shoe

    leather

    and

    human

    energy in preaching the

Good Nevfs to other Mexicans. To reach

    the

    village of La

requests to preach in three other Mexican

villages. Juan is out buying a

    horse this

week; a preacher's pony who can take the

    rough

    and tough

    life

    of a

    missionary

    on

    horse

    shoes.

    This

    horse

    is

    being paid

    drought in

    5 0 years).

    A few ^ 5 o O O ,

    gifts

    him fed and
