Summer plans “We’re going to the lake, of course, and we have a beach house rented in southern California in August. We’re excited to rescue the grunion fish under the moonlight! I’m also taping my symphony show, which ties into an HBO special on my life and music, and I’m excited to tape some family summer mem-ories that we’ll have on film for a lifetime.” Canadian getaway “I love being out at the lake in Ontario. It can be near Kenora, Minaki or out at Rosseau or Haliburton—I kind of live for it. A swim across the lake and a glass of wine in a screened-in room—it’s heaven on earth.” Playlist “American Girl,” Tom Petty—“In my late teens, my best pals, Georgia and Tessa, and I would go to Gimli [Man.] and wreak havoc. When I hear ‘American Girl,’ I am right back at the lake with my ‘sisters.’” Maybe next sum-mer “I’d love to take the kids up to Churchill [Man.] during the belugas’ feeding time. To be in a 12-foot boat in the bay with mother and baby belugas doing their dance and feed can’t be described.” Cool-down “There’s nothing like jump-ing into the lake naked in the evening.” Must-have “Great bikinis—it’s like an alarm clock goes off for me and I need to see what Eres, Cosabella and Calypso are doing for bathing suits. And I’m crazy about Arcona sunscreen for my face and Alexis LaMontagna’s scarves.” n
