Our longevity and growth can be credited to God’s faithful provision and protection and the generosity of friends who serve as His hands and feet to women considering abortion. I believe we have survived and thrived for 25 years because God blessed these guiding principles: 1. Attracting abortion-minded women. Our services, environment, client website, etc. are all designed with this person’s needs in mind. 2. Positioning centers near abortion clinics. We have made bold steps of faith to locate women’s centers across from late-term abortion clinics in order to directly compete for the hearts and minds of abortion-minded women. 3. Offering ultrasound services. Providing these services sets us apart from many other centers; however, maintaining these services at our current level is becoming increasingly difficult due to the high cost of ultrasound nurses and technicians. We are praying for guidance in this area. 4. Extending prenatal care. Rather than being limited to crisis intervention, our center offers full prenatal care at our Dayton location. 5. The 25-Year Strategy

Summer 2014

Operating what many consider the largest pregnancy medical center in the U.S.—or the world—for 25 years provides lots of experience in learning how to grow this ministry and make it increasingly effective. Our longevity and growth can be credited to God’s faithful provision and protection and the generosity of friends who serve as His hands and feet to women considering abortion. I believe we have survived and thrived for 25 years because God blessed these guiding principles:

1. Attracting abortion-minded women. Our services, environment, client website, etc. are all designed with this person’s needs in mind.2. Positioning centers near abortion clinics. We have made bold steps of faith to locate women’s centers across from late-term abortion clinics in order to directly compete for the hearts and minds of abortion-minded women. 3. Offering ultrasound services. Providing these services sets us apart from many other centers; however, maintaining these services at our current level is becoming

increasingly difficult due to the high cost of ultrasound nurses and technicians. We are praying for guidance in this area.

4. Extending prenatal care. Rather than being limited to crisis intervention, our center offers full prenatal care at our Dayton location.5. Staying in prayer. Last but not at all least, daily prayer keeps the agency on our spiritual toes, even as we lean on Him.

Better Together! In Christ,

Vivian Koob, Executive Director

Saving Babies in the Uttermost Parts of the World

By giving financially through Elizabeth’s New Life Center, you also save babies throughout the world, especially in Zambia, Africa.

Since1998, Elizabeth’s New Life Center has provided monthly financial support of $8,000 annually to a pregnancy help center, Silent Voices, in Zambia, Africa. Executive Director Vivian Koob met Silent Voices Director Barbra Nalvwe Mwansa, at a Heartbeat International Conference. “She told me of the conditions that she was dealing with in Africa, and it really broke my heart.”

ENLC had already begun exploring international missions in Russia, and our board quickly approved outreach to Zambia. To date, Silent Voices has saved more than 6,000 babies and reached 10,000 schools with a message promoting sexual integrity.

Mwansa also serves as president of Association for Life of Africa and said ENLC support has been instrumental in helping the Association establish additional crisis pregnancy centers in other countries, including Egypt, Togo, Gambia, Tanzania and South Africa.

“We really want to say thanks for faithful support of Elizabeth’s New Life Center, the board, the staff and everyone who has been sending in support,” Mwansa

Spearheading a Bottle for Babies campaign for Women’s Center-Lebanon wasn’t going according to Heidi Constable’s plan. On this particular Sunday, Heidi, a women’s ministry leader for Loveland Christian Church, hoped to galvanize the church to action. Instead, Heidi found herself distracted by other church needs.

It really wasn’t going the way church members Charles “Chet” and Veronica Fuller had imagined either. The aviation consultant and his wife, a volunteer nurse, had already taken bottles home and faithfully filled them with money. On the previous Monday, March 4, Veronica had painstakingly counted every penny.

The next morning, their son, a high school

Amid the Hay, Wood and Stubble, Bottles for Babiescontaining more than $150 in coins for Elizabeth’s New Life Center. “We said, ‘Don’t give to us, give to these babies,’” Veronica explained, “‘because we have help and insurance, but these kids have nothing when they get started in life.’”

For Heidi it was a turning point, too. “When Chet showed the pictures of the surviving baby bottles, I started to sob,” she said. “God kept me out of the way because nothing I said or did would have made the impact that this man, smiling in his burnt-out home, holding these bottles, made by asking everyone to please take one.”

To date, Loveland Christian Church has collected about $900 for Elizabeth’s New Life Center through Bottles for Babies.

Please join us in praising God for the well-being of the Fuller family, their leadership and that of Heidi Constable and the generosity of the Loveland Christian Church. graduating senior, left for school, and the couple also left their Symmes Township home. Within an hour they received an urgent phone call. Their house was on fire.

They drove back home, frightened for their 1-year-old dog. To their great relief, firemen were able to rescue Essie. But the Fullers’ possessions? They were destroyed.

The following Sunday, Loveland Christian Church gathered as usual for worship. Heidi was there, profoundly disappointed that she hadn’t been able to fully promote the Bottles for Babies campaign. Because she herself had an abortion at age 17, the women’s center was a ministry close to her heart.

The Fullers were there, too. Although they had lost “stuff,” as Veronica put it, they realized how blessed they were. They received such an outpouring of support from friends, neighbors and community that Chet asked the congregation to re-direct the church’s offer of help. He showed them photos of their fire-ravaged house along with a picture of what was saved: Six blackened, smoke-filled baby bottles

Grace Flashback: No More Babies Dying, No More Mothers Crying

Despite a 25-year ministry characterized by growth and effectiveness, Executive Director Vivian Koob points to a lingering heartache. “I’m disappointed that the abortion industry is still active in our area and Haskell in our midst.” Martin Haskell owns abortion clinics in Kettering and Sharonville.

Along with the heartache, however, has come compelling successes in the cultural conflict against abortion. During her tenure as founder and executive director, Vivian has watched as abortion clinics closed their doors—while Elizabeth’s New Life Center stood firm.

In December 2000, the abortion clinic on Main Street, the primary motivator calling ENLC into existence, closed its doors. In a triumphant irony, Elizabeth’s New Life Center bought the building and erected a sign: “No more babies dying, no more mothers crying.”

That’s not the only abortion clinic the center has outlasted. In 2011, a clinic dispensing RU-486 pills closed its

doors. Meanwhile, Haskell’s abortion clinic in Sharonville remains at risk to be shut down.

Although Elizabeth’s New Life Center got its start as a response to abortion, it won’t end with it, according to Vivian. “With the right leadership and the right board, this is the type of agency that will always be needed. Even if abortion was outlawed tomorrow, there will be hurting families.”

25th Anniversary Event Draws Crowd, Support with Spring Partnership Event

Almost 500 people attended our Spring Partnership Event to celebrate Elizabeth’s New Life Center’s 25th anniversary.

The highlight of the program was a 16-minute video featuring client Tiarra Williams and her gripping story of changing from abortion-minded to choosing life amid a personal tragedy. We followed Tiarra with a video camera throughout her pregnancy and after. What we captured was a sometimes

heartbreaking but ultimately triumphant story of God’s grace and work in one person’s life. Tiarra speaks from the heart on behalf of all of our clients whose lives have been touched because of our generous and visionary donors.

To make a donation to help us meet our banquet goal, see our website: ElizabethNewLife.org. To request a copy of our video, contact Adam at (937) 226-7414, ext. 230.

Sharing What We’ve LearnedENLC Goes to Heartbeat As part of Elizabeth’s New Life Center’s commitment to sharing what we’ve learned with other pregnancy help centers, two staff members traveled to Charleston, South Carolina last March to present workshops at the Heartbeat International Conference.

Development Director Debbie Nieport presented a workshop on “Development Boot Camp” to share the basics with new recruits as well as veterans. Kima Jude, Development Officer for Grant Management, presented a workshop on “Panning for Gold in the Grant Funding Stream.” The annual conference set new records for attendance with more than 900 registered.

Debbie has presented development workshops at Heartbeat conferences since 2003. Other staff, including Executive Director Vivian Koob, also have presented in previous years.

Elizabeth’s New Life Center is affiliated with Heartbeat International, which provides leadership training and resources for the pregnancy help movement. “Getting the opportunity to rub shoulders with our international counterparts not only helps them, but it inspires us, too,” said Elizabeth’s New Life Center Executive Director Vivian Koob. “Being reminded that we are part of a global effort encourages us to keep honing our strengths in order to be leaders the rest of the world may look to for assistance.”

“Presenting workshops to fellow pro-life fundraisers is a way for me to give back—to share the passion and skills God has so graciously given me for this work,” Debbie said.

Heartbeat Comes to ENLC Last April at the request of Heartbeat International, Elizabeth’s New Life Center hosted pregnancy help center leaders from countries around the world, offering training, resources and lunch at our Dayton center.

Eleven representatives from South Africa, China, Ukraine, Argentina, Macedonia, Australia and Tanzania, accompanied by Heartbeat International personnel, visited Elizabeth’s New Life Center’s Dayton offices for a tour of our women’s center, prenatal care center and boutique. The visit gave the internationals an opportunity to ask questions as well as share about the ministry of each of their centers.

Recently Elizabeth’s New Life Center received a note from a new donor that inspired me so much I must share it: “Although I am 64 years old and single and do all I can to save for my financial future, I’d rather run out of money and say I saved babies. So my goal is to save a baby every year until I die. God willing, that could be 20-30 babies. Both my parents lived to be in their 90s!”

This woman’s commitment challenged me to take my giving to the next level, too. Yet finding the inspiration was only the first step. I searched for smart, practical ways to take anyone higher:

1. Round up. You’ve probably encountered clerks who invited you to round up your purchase price in order to give to the store’s favorite charity. Likewise, each time you make a purchase, round up in your checkbook so that when you reconcile your bank statements, you’ve accumulated a surplus that you can donate.

2. Bank it. Ye Olde Piggy Bank still works faithfully when it comes to saving money. At Elizabeth’s New Life Center, our piggy banks take the form of baby

Lord, Lift Me Up Where I Belongbottles, but any ole bank will do. For a bigger step up, don’t just fill with coins, drop in dollars, too.

3. Old-fashioned sacrifice. Foregoing the cost of a monthly dinner out, movie or a daily cup of java adds up. Or take an even bigger step up and donate the money you would spend on a vacation.

4. Fundraise on your own. Clean out your garage, host a yard sale and donate the proceeds. Do you sew, knit, crochet or craft? Instead of profiting personally from a sideline hobby or business, it can be your means to generate financial gifts.

5. Share your windfall. The next time you receive an unexpected tax refund or inheritance, consider: Should you spend it or give it?

I’m challenging you to join me in following this woman’s example and take your financial support of ENLC to the next level: Saving babies for LIFE!

Blessings,Debbie Nieport Development Director
