We will gather at St. Anne’s Church on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. We ask our CWL Members to arrive at 6:30 p.m. Please join us afterwards for refreshments & friendship in the Meeting Room. If you have any questions please contact Mary Jane Collins 519-633-0429 or Judy Holtby 519-207-1181.

Ecumenical Refugee Committee Report Including the newest family we are currently expecting, over the years our committee has been able to bring 7 groups and over 30 people out of refugee camps to Canada. All have integrated well into Canadian society. Our most recent family arrived from a UN refugee camp in Kenya on October 4, 2018, so they have just celebrated their first anniversary in this great country. After just one year, we can happily say this family is well on their way to independence. Dad is gainfully employed and enjoying work, but during a temporary layoff at a local industry he has returned to school to improve his English skills. Mom is busy at home with two little ones, one [Casey Patricia] was born this past July. Three children are happily engaged at school, doing well and well-liked by both teachers and classmates alike and they are enjoying the many opportunities their new country offers. Biggest challenge right now? – maybe all the paperwork they face in Canada from governments, school and ‘junk’. Next big step will be getting a driver’s licence. Check out our video on the parish website. So now we await our new family – a family of 8 from a refugee camp in Rwanda, originally from the DRC. Along with mom and dad, there are four boys [21, 17, 12, 7] and two girls [15, 5]. As of September 11, we had a 4-12 week wait, but we don’t know the arrival date for sure. Winter clothing might be a priority but we don’t know sizes. Accommodation is our biggest and most immediate need. We have had generous offers of household furnishings but are looking for a rental home or apartment big enough to accommodate everyone. We are also looking for volunteers who would like to join our group in welcoming the family and helping them resettled. If you are interested or can help in any way, please contact Gord Smith 519-633-1261; Cathy Beamish 519-773-3870; or Pat Vandevenne at 519-631-8885.

‘ON THE BUS' ROAD TRIP Sunday, October 20, 2019 - 8:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

All parishioners are invited on a Bus Road Trip to visit and tour St. Helen's Parish in Wallacetown and onto St. Mary's in West Lorne to celebrate their 10:30 a.m. Mass together. A light lunch prepared by the St. Mary's Ladies Group will be offered after Mass. Meet the bus in the St. Anne's parking lot at 8:15 a.m.

A very special Thank You to the church organizations that helped make this memorable trip possible. As Jesus said, "Go make disciples ....I am with you always".

As seating on the school bus is limited, please call Judy Holtby at 519-207-1181 or Penny Rice at 519-207-0978 ASAP to reserve your spot. Car pooling and caravan are options once the bus is filled!

BAPTISMS: We welcome into our Family of Parishes the following new members who were baptized in September: Luke James Robinson Baker, Jared Michael Bernabe, Scarlett Bernabe, Lillie Renae Boric, Everleigh Annalise Rhea Chapman, and Johnathan Patrick Dale. Please pray for these new members and their families.
