About the First Annual EMSA “Swinging for the Kids” Golf Tournament

About Elgin Math and Science Academy: Elgin Math and Science Academy Charter School (EMSA)

is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit K-3 public charter school holding its very first annual golf event. It is open to all

players. 100% of the net proceeds go to supporting our students to make their experience the very best it can be.

We need your support!

Location, Date and Time: The event will be played at the Highlands of Elgin Golf Course, one of the

premiere golf courses in Illinois, on Monday, May 20, 2019. Registration, driving range and putting green begins

at 10:30 am. Buffet lunch served from 11-11:45 am. Players to their carts at 11:45 am for Rules of Play. Shotgun

start at 12 noon. Awards Dinner at approx. 5:30 pm.

Format of Play: Modified Scramble Format. Each player tees off as in a regular scramble. The team

selects the best drive from which to play the next shot. HOWEVER, EACH PLAYER MUST THEN PLAY

HIS/HER BALL INTO THE HOLE FROM THAT POSITION. Limit triple bogey per hole per player. The

total team score for all four players is recorded and submitted.

Prizes: There will be trophies for the first, second and third place teams. There will be a pre-play

putting contest, post-play chipping contest, and on-course events that include a $100,000 “Hole-in-One” Contest;

2-Year Auto Lease “Hole-in-One” Contest; 2 Longest Drives; 2 Straightest Drives; 2 “Closest to the Pin”; 2

Longest Putt contests. SUPER SPECIAL PRIZE: The winning team gets to defend their title in 2020 and

all registration fees are waived, a $700+ prize value!!

Registration Fees: $175 per individual player; $700 per four-person team. All registrations and fees must

be received by EMSA no later than May 1, 2019. Participation is on a first come-first served basis. Fees include

greens fees, cart fees, bucket of balls for driving range, use of putting green, participation in all events, prizes,

lunch, dinner, soft drinks/water. EMSA will do its best to create teams for individual players.

Meals, Beverages, Awards: This event will include a deli-style buffet lunch, BBQ buffet dinner (including

dessert), unlimited soft drinks and water during meals and during play, award/prizes for all events.

all commitments to play and payments be received by EMSA no later than May 1, 2019 for scheduling purposes. If you withdraw from

the event 10 days or less before the tournament date, your payment will not be refunded as EMSA is required to make payment to the

Format of Play This event will be played in a Modified Four-Person Scramble Format. All four (4) players will tee off on each hole. The team

selects the best drive from which to play next shots. Then, unlike in a regular scramble, EACH PLAYER MUST PLAY THEIR

OWN BALL INTO THE HOLE. All 4 scores are recorded on the card. The sum of all 4 players’ scores becomes the team’s total

score submitted for the event. Each player will be allowed a maximum of a triple bogey on each hole.

What’s a Modified Four-Man Scramble? Each player tees off. Team selects

the best drive. THEN… each player must play their own ball into the hole. All four (4)

scores are recorded. Scores limited to triple bogey on each hole. The combined team score

of all four (4) players is submitted for the event.
