FAREWELL GOOD PRIESTS
Catholic Daughters will host a farewell
reception for Father Kelly and Father Ben on
Wednesday, June 19th, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Please come and give our priests a nice send
off!
A WORD FROM FATHER KELLY In preparation for Father’s Day and filled
with the desire to, at least once, get a greeting card
sent out to my father on time, I found myself look-
ing through countless Father’s Day cards. It is al-
ways my hope that I can find a card that says what
I want it to say and that truly reflects the personal-
ity of the person who will receive the greeting.
Since my father is completely Dutch by
origin, he has never been the most physically af-
fectionate person. That is not to say that my sib-
lings and I were unaware of his love for us. My
father never gave us any reason to doubt his love
or care for each of us. But, it was demonstrated in
a very Dutch fashion through his sense of humor,
his engaging us in conversation, and his invitations
to assist him on whatever project he was spending
his free time.
I did find a greeting card, finally, that says
“thank you” to my father in a way he will appreci-
ate, and I might even add, give him a little sense of
pride. The card states in a few words: “Thank you
for setting an example of good, old-fashioned hard
work, and of honesty, courage, and high ideals.
Thank you for being protector, provider, and prob-
lem-solver, all in one…” Thank you American
Greetings for putting into words what I could not!
As we think of our fathers, each one of us
will find, hopefully, a man who did his best, who
gave what he had, and shared what he knew. My
father is an incredible individual always willing to
give what has been given to him in ability and in
personality. Dad, I thank you for helping me be-
come the person I am today!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Please check the bulletin board in the church foyer. There is a photo collage poster showing us praying, learning and growing in our Catho-lic Faith. Each month I will post a new Reli-gious Education collage poster of our children, our awesome catechists and our families. I will be taking registrations from late July through early September 2013 for all children Preschool through Year 5 who want to be “cool” Catho-lics!! I look to seeing familiar faces and many new ones for our next Religious Year.
NO VBS THIS JUNE but I am working on next year’s VBS by collecting props and materi-als that I will be able to use. If you come across bolts or lengths of velvet, silky or flocked fabric or old curtains of a red, purple or gold that you no longer need or find at a very reduced price please let me know. The material will be a nec-essary prop for Kingdom Rock with castle and knights of old. Do you have any lanyards left hanging around from your attendance at a con-ferences etc?? These are great for name tags.
Keep me posted on your finds. All donations are greatly appreciated. Each week I will keep you informed on my prop acquisition goals so VBS 2014 is the best ever!
SACRAMENT PREPARATION
First Reconciliation /First Communion Dear parents I am seeking photos of your child (in his/her First Communion attire) so I can compile a Poster for the foyer. Unfortunately I didn’t give my camera to anyone to take photos so I am hoping for some help in this endeavor. Last week I asked the children how many times
have you received the Blessed Eucharist since that very special first time? Isn’t it great! Remember also the Sacrament of Reconciliation you received first and count how many times you have been able to receive this gift since January? Confessions are very Saturday from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE:
SCRIP will be sold throughout the
summer every Friday from 9:00 to
noon (except July 5th) at Sacred
Heart School -- enter at the office
door on 11th and Ivy.
A portion of each dollar spent on
SCRIP is donated to the school by
the business you purchase SCRIP
for. We have a large number of
vendors -- check it out!
ANGEL NOTES
In spite of their best efforts (and
leading in the first inning 4-0) the Sacred Heart Angels fell to a bunch
of accountants from Moss Adams 8-7. Darin Prulhiere made an im-pressive slide into home to score and
Sheridan Pyeatt dazzled at shortstop. Come on out and cheer them on at their next game
on June 18th at 8:30 PM on Field 5! It’s an enjoyable time for the entire family.
Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd. You know each of us and You call us by name to serve You in faith. Help us to respond generously to Your voice. Give
courage and guidance to those You call to the priesthood and diaconate, to religious life and lay ministry, so that they may respond whole heartedly and
serve devoutly. Christ our Lord. Amen.

COMMUNION TO HOMEBOUND
The Legion of Mary brings Communion to those
who cannot come to Mass. People in hospitals,
nursing homes, foster care homes, retirement cen-
ters, and private homes. It is a spiritually satisfying
task. We need more helpers (it is not necessary that
they be members of the Legion of Mary). Training
is provided. If you can spare an hour or two a week
to help with this vital spiritual work of mercy,
please leave your name at the office and we’ll be in
touch with you.
CELL PHONE REMINDER
Please remember to turn off your
phone before entering church.

SACRED HEART SCHOOL/PARISH FOODBANK HUNGER DOES NOT TAKE SUMMER BREAK
The need for food in our area is very real. Our Foodbank which op-erates through Sacred Heart School, continues through the summer months, staffed by school volunteers and students. Costs increase for the parish because without the classroom donations more food is purchased. There is a large plastic tub for non-perishable items in the vestibule of the church. When doing your weekly shopping please remember the poor and donate this way on the weekends. Items that are especially needed are: Applesauce, Chicken Noodle Soup, Corn, Mac and Cheese, Peanut Butter, Pork n Beans, Spaghetti Noodles, Spaghetti Sauce, Tomato Soup, Top Raman, and Tuna.
Thank you to all who faithfully remember the Foodbank.
