January 14 th –January 17 th Remember to save your box tops and soda tabs! Box tops will help earn money for our school. Soda tabs are collected, counted and sent to the Ronald McDonald House. Remember to order your SCRIP…it is money you would spend anyway and it earns money for our school! FYI •I will be out of town on Thursday, January 24 th –Tuesday January 29 th . I will be at school on Thursday until lunch time. Mrs. Ross will be in our classroom Thursday, Friday, and Monday and Mrs. Coldsnow will be in our classroom on Tuesday while I am away. They are both wonderful with the Elephants . Please send in any notes, change of transportation, etc. via note in your child’s folder and not by email as Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Coldsnow will not receive the information. I will be in Miami participating in my first half marathon . •There was a misprint on January’s homework log. “Thursday” should have been written instead of Friday; I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. •Please remember to sign in at the front office when you are on campus. •We will be studying short vowel word families this quarter. Word families are sets of rhyming words. The words cat, rat hat, bat are all in the “at” word family. This Week’s Studies: This week we will: •study the sound of short “a” •study short “a” word families •study the sight word “are” and add it to our word wall •study addition during math •study the day and night sky during science •learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr during social studies ***Please remember, to demonstrate mastery of letters, your child needs to know its name, write it, and use the sound. To demonstrate mastery of numbers, your child needs to know its name, write it, and show objects to match it.
