We all know that sport is a life. Everyone has a feasibility to be fit and live longer. And I know it. I really like sports, especially figure skating. I've been training for 3 years and I have the third sports category.

And the beginning of all this is by one person who inspired me to do this sport.

It is a Russian figure skating coach and choreographer Elena Anatolyevna Tchaikovskaia.

Elena Tchaikovskaia

Since childhood she was prepared to become an actress, even starred with her father Anatoly Osipov in several Soviet films, such as Schastlivyy reys, for instance.

Elena Tchaikovskaia was born in December 30, 1939 in Moscow in a family of theatre actors. Her father worked in Mossovet Theatre.

She had unhealthy lungs, so her father took her to the ice rink,

believing skating would help her to improve her health. In 1957 she

became a Soviet champion in single skating. In 1960 she finished her

sports career and started working as a choreographer and later as a coach.

Since 1997 she has taken over as a Russian Olympic committee's head

coach. She also coaches the national figure skating team.

In 2014 Sochi will host the Winter Olympic Games. One of the main sports there will be figure skating and Elena Tchaikovskaia coaches the most famous and best Russian figure skaters, who will represent our country. I am sure that they will perform the best skating programs and win these games.

I live in Strogino, it’s situated in the north-west of Moscow. I have always dreamed of taking up figure skating, but before we didn’t have any sports centers and there were no ice palaces there. But in 2010 a large sports center in our area was built, mainly for ice skating activities. And now there is a school of figure skating "A Skate of Tchaikovskaia" in this center. Here is also a small shop where you can see some of her trophies and her famous fur hat.

Elena Tchaikovskaia is famous for her ice dancing pairs. However in 2007, she stated that she personally thought that single skating was far more important and difficult. She is more involved in single skating now, though she says that she may return to

ice dancing someday.She wrote several books about training of figure skaters, for example, “Konek

Udachi” (Eng. "A Skate of Luck"), which was published in 1994. In 2007, a documentary about her was released in Russia entitled "Her Ice Majesty. Elena

Tchaikovskaia."

I’m very grateful to Elena Anatolyevna for having inspired me to take up

this sport!

Now I’m training in her skating school and I believe that I have chosen the right sport.
