Virginia Cobb Scholarship Application

For Speech- and/or Hearing-Impaired Alabama High School Seniors

April 2017

Dear High School Senior and/or College and Career Counselor,

The Charity League is a non-profit service organization of volunteer women committed to helping the hearing- and speech-impaired children of Alabama. In 2002, the Virginia Cobb Scholarship to benefit hearing-and/or speech-impaired students was established. Since then we have awarded over $50,000 in scholarship money to deserving students.

Enclosed you will find the official application. Please have any 2017 graduate that is speech- or hearing-impaired fill out the application and return it along with the following:

1) A copy of the applicants transcript

2) Two letters of reference:

a) One from a hearing- and/or speech-impaired specialist with personal knowledge of the applicant.

b) One from an individual in the community who knows the applicant personally.

3) An applicant-written one or two page essay telling us about themselves, their achievements and goals.

Please submit applications, post-marked no later than May 31, 2017, to the following address:
