Basic Steps to Use Your Phone

The phone can make and receive calls onlywhen it is switched on, has a valid SIMcard inserted and is located in the servicearea of the cellular network.

To insert the SIM card into the phone:

➀ Press and hold to switch off yourphone. Always switch off the power be-fore removing the battery.

• Press the locking catch, slide the bat-tery downwards and lift it off the phone.

• Ensure that the golden connectors onthe SIM card are facing the connectorson the phone.Place the card into the back of thephone and slide it upwards.

• You can now also insert the metal clipsupplied with the Belt Clip Kit acces-sory into the slot under the cover of thephone.

• Attach the battery by placing it on theback of the phone and slide it upwardsuntil the locking catch snaps into place.

➁ To charge the battery, connect thephone to the charger. Connect thecharger to the proper voltage ACpower supply.

Press and hold to switch on yourphone. If the phone displays theprompt PIN CODE ?, enter the PINcode provided with the SIM card andpress M.While charging is in progress, the bat-tery charge indicator scrolls on the dis-play.Note:If the battery is totally empty, the textPOWERING UP and the indicator willappear on the display. Charging is inprogress but the phone cannot beused until the battery charge is highenough.

➂ If needed, change the display texts intoEnglish by pressing MENU 4 9 9.

Battery Information

Charging and DischargingNote that a new battery’s full performanceis achieved only after two or three com-plete charge and discharge cycles!

The battery can be charged and dis-charged hundreds of times but it will even-tually wear out. When the operating time(talk-time and standby time) is noticeablyshorter than normal, it is time to buy a newbattery.

When the charge drops to approximately5% of the maximum battery capacity, themessage BATTERY LOW will warn you atregular intervals. When there is no batterycapacity left, the message RECHARGEBATTERY is displayed and the phone willautomatically be switched off to discharg-ing mode when a charger is not con-nected. During discharging, the messageDISCHARGING is blinking, and the phonecannot be used. When the battery is dis-charged, connect the phone to a chargerand CHARGING will be displayed for twoseconds when charging process is started.Discharging can be interrupted by connect-ing the phone to the charger.

While charging is in progress and thepower is switched off, the battery chargeindicator bar scrolls from clear to a full baron the phone display. When the indicatordisappears and the display is empty, charg-ing is completed.When the power is on during charging, thebattery indicator bar scrolls, and the phonecan be used.

Note:If the battery is totally empty, the text POW-ERING UP and the indicator appear onthe display. Charging is in progress but noactions can be done until the batterycharge is high enough.

Use only batteries approved by the phonemanufacturer and recharge your batteryonly with the chargers approved by themanufacturer. When a charger is not inuse, disconnect it from the power source.Do not leave the battery connected to acharger for longer than a week, since over-charging may shorten its life. If left unuseda fully charged battery will discharge itselfover time.

For good operation times, discharge thebattery from time to time as described (orby using the battery discharge facility ofany approved accessory available for yourphone). Do not attempt to discharge thebattery by any other means.

Temperature extremes will affect the abilityof your battery to charge: it may requirecooling or warming first.

Note:Use the battery only for its intended pur-pose.Never use any charger or battery which isdamaged or worn out.

Always switch the power off before remov-ing the battery.

Note:However, the battery can be removedwhen the phone is discharging (DIS-CHARGING is flashing on the display).

Do not short circuit the battery. Accidentalshort circuiting can occur when a metallicobject (coin, clip or pen) causes direct con-nection of the + and - terminals of the bat-tery (metal strips on the back of thebattery) for example when you carry aspare battery in your pocket or purse.Short circuiting the terminals may damagethe battery or the connecting object.

Leaving the battery in hot or cold places,such as in a closed car in summer or win-ter conditions, will reduce the capacity andlifetime of the battery. Always try to keepthe battery between 15°C and 25°C (59Fand 77F). A phone with a hot or cold bat-tery may temporarily not work, even whenthe battery is fully charged. NiMH batteriesperformance is particularly limited in tem-peratures below -10°C (14F).

Dispose of used batteries in accordancewith local regulations. Recycle!

Do not dispose of batteries in a fire!

Display IndicatorsThe phone has a series of fixed display indi-cators which inform you about the opera-tion of the phone.

When on it indicates that a voicemessage is waiting.Whether this indicator is used de-pends on the network operator.

When on it indicates that a shortmessage has been received.When flashing, it indicates that themessage memory is full.

ABC The phone is in alpha mode and let-ters can be keyed in and displayed.

MENU Indicates that you have entered themenu.

Indicates the index number of a menufunction or a setting.Indicates a memory locationnumber.Indicates the message number inthe Message mode.

S and barsIndicates the current cellular signalstrength at the location of yourphone. The more bars, the betterthe signal in the area.

B and barsIndicates the charge of the battery.The more bars, the better the bat-tery charge.A scrolling bar indicates that charg-ing in progress.

Indicates information overflow on thedisplay, e.g. the front part of thephone number is not shown on thedisplay. Press and hold the R keyto check the rest of the number.

Indicates that the phone is switchedon.

Indicates that the phone is using anetwork other than the home net-work.

Appears when you are making a calland is on during a call.The indicator flashes when youhave a call on hold.

SERV Shows that the phone is registeredon the cellular network. If it doesnot light up, the phone is outsidethe network coverage area.

Indicates information overflow on thedisplay, e.g. the end of the phonenumber is not shown on the displayor, during number editing, indicatesthat there are more than 16 digits inthe phone number.


Access Codes

Your phone and the network incorporateseveral levels of security function to pro-hibit unauthorised use of your phone.These functions require different numericcodes.

Avoid choosing access codes similar to theemergency numbers to prevent accidentalemergency calls.

Phone Codes

Security Code (5 digits)

The security code is supplied with thephone (in a red envelope or on an Identifi-cation Sticker) in the sales package of yourphone.If the prompt SECURITY appears on thedisplay, key in your security code (appearsas stars on the display) and press M.If you enter an incorrect security code fivetimes, the phone will not accept any furtherentries for the next five minutes.

Card Codes

PIN Code (Personal IdentificationNumber, 4-8 digits)

The PIN code for SIM card is supplied withthe SIM card.If the prompt PIN CODE appears on thedisplay, key in your PIN code and press M.If you enter an incorrect PIN code threetimes in succession, the SIM card will beblocked. The SIM card can be unblockedby using the PUK code.

PIN2 Code (4-8 digits)

The PIN2 code is supplied with some SIMcards. Its use can be explained by yourSIM card provider or network operator.

PUK Code (Personal Unblocking Key,8 digits)

The PUK code may be supplied with yourSIM card. Use the PUK code to unblockyour SIM card. For more information, con-sult your SIM card provider or network op-erator.

PUK2 Code (8 digits)

The PUK2 code is supplied with some SIMcards. Its use can be explained by yourSIM card provider or network operator.

Network Password (4 digits)

A Network Password may be providedwith the SIM card for the barring servicesof your network. Its use can be explainedby your SIM card provider or network op-erator.

The SIM lock

Your phone may be programmed to oper-ate only with certain SIM cards. This fea-ture may be activated upon request of thenetwork operator. If the phone does notwork after insertion of a new SIM card, con-sult your network operator or serviceprovider.

Basic Functions

As with any other radio-transmitting de-vice, avoid unnecessary contact with theantenna when the phone is switched on.

Making a CallKey in the phone number including thearea code and press .To finish the call, press .

You can adjust the volume of the earpieceby pressing the and keys during a call.

International Calls

Press ✱ twice in rapid succession (for theinternational prefix ‘+’), enter the countrycode and the subscriber number andpress .

Correcting Keying MistakesDelete the last character on the display bypressing C.Clear the whole display by pressing andholding C.

Last Number RedialWith the display clear, press twice.

Speed DiallingKey in the memory location number 1-9where the desired telephone number isstored. Call the number by pressing .

Receiving a CallPress key to answer the call.End the call by pressing .

Anykey AnswerYou can answer incoming calls by brieflypressing any key except the or key.

To hold / unhold a callWhen you have a call in progress, you canput it on hold by pressing , whichmeans that the person you are calling can-not hear you. When you have a call onhold, the indicator on the display willflash. Press again to unhold the calland the person can hear you again.

For subscription to this function, contactyour network operator.

KeyguardThe keypad lock, keyguard, prevents keyfrom being accidentally pressed when, forexample, the phone is in your pocket.

Note:When keyguard is active, calls may bepossible to the emergency number pro-grammed in your phone (e.g. 112 or otherofficial emergency number), but the emer-gency number will be shown on the displayonly when all the digits have been keyed in.

To activate/deactivate the keyguard:Press MENU ✱.


Using the Memory

You can store phone numbers and theircorresponding contact names in a memorylocated on the SIM card.

Cards’ memory storage capacity varies.The phone is able to handle 199 SIM cardmemory locations, even if a card can holdmore.

Each memory location can hold a nameand a phone number.In the numeric mode only numbers can bekeyed in or displayed.In the alpha mode, you can key in or dis-play letters and numbers.Digits keyed in during the alpha mode cannot be used as telephone numbers tomake calls.

Keying in Names

➀ Press ABC to select the alpha mode.

➁ Select the key labelled with the letteryou want.Press it once for the first letter, twice(before the cursor appears to the rightof the letter) for the second letter andso on.

➂ Select the other letters in the same way.When entering the same letter (or a let-ter on same key) twice, you do notneed to wait for the cursor to appearbut press the ✱ key and select the nextletter.E.g. to select P, R, T, press when inthe alpha mode the keys 7 ✱ 7 7 7 8without any pause.

To find the characters you want, repeat-edly press the keys 1 - 9:

Using Additional Memory

Welcome GreetingYou can store a personal welcome greet-ing into your phone. The greeting will ap-pear on the display when you switch thephone on and key in the PIN code, if re-quested.

To store:

Press ABC , key inthe welcome text,press M M 9 9 9 M.

To recall:

Press 9 9 9 R. Press ABC to check thetext.

To erase the welcome greeting fromthe memory:

With the display clear, press M M M 9 9 9M M.

Temporary Memory

To store:

During a call, key in a telephone numberand name on the display. End the call bypressing , the information will bestored in the temporary memory location.

To recall :

Press 0 R.

Temporary memory will be cleared whenthe phone is switched off.

Voice Mailbox Number

Key in the telephone number of your voicemailbox, press M and press .

Sending DTMF Tones

DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) tones al-low you to communicate with answering ma-chines, computerized telephony systems, etc.DTMF tones can be transmitted even whenthe keypad tones are switched off.

I Manual Method

➀ Make a call to a desired telephonenumber.

➁ Key in the digits. Each digit is sent di-rectly as a DTMF tone. The length ofthe tone depends on how long youpress the key.

II Automatic Transmission

In automatic transmission you can sendnumber sequences already stored in thememory.

Note:In some SIM cards the storing of sequencescontaining characters ‘w’, ‘p’, ‘+’, ‘#’ or ‘✱‘may not be possible.When sending a sequence, after a ‘w’ char-acter the key has to be pressed tosend the rest of the sequence.

➀ Make a call to the desired telephonenumber.

➁ Recall the number sequence from thememory.

➂ Press MENU to send the sequence.

After the sequence is sent, it will disappearfrom the display.During the sequence transmission, only thekeys , and C are active.

The Menu Facility

The phone has a set of functions arrangedin menus and submenus. You can checkor change the setting of a particular func-tion. The menus as well as the submenuscan be entered by using either ‘The MenuMethod’ or ‘The Shortcut Method’.

Menu Functions

Network ServicesSome of the menu functions are networkservices. These functions can be used onlyif provided by your network operator. Be-fore you can take advantage of any ofthese Network Services, you must sub-scribe to the service(s) you required fromyour network operator. Note that a net-work service is specific for the SIM card forwhich you have subscribed.

For availability and subscription, contactyour network operator.

Memory Options (MENU 1)

Dialled Calls (MENU 1 1)The phone stores the last five numbersthat you called or attempted to call in theDialled Calls memory locations indexed asL0 - L4. The latest number is stored in loca-tion 0 and the older numbers are movedback. If the name is found in the SIM cardmemory, the location will also include aname for the displayed number.

To search through the numbers:

➀ Press MENU 1 1 (or press ). Thenumber of your last call appears on thedisplay.

➁ Press to scroll to the next number.

➂ Press to dial the number displayed.

Note:If a new SIM card, which is not recognisedas an owner card, is inserted into thephone, the dialled calls list will be erased.See also menu 5 2, Security Level.

Received Calls (MENU 1 2)The phone stores the last five different tele-phone numbers of the incoming calls in theReceived Calls memory locations, indexedas A0-A4. The phone number of a receivedcall is only stored if the network supportsthis function and if the calling phone pro-vides its identity. When a new call comesin, the other numbers move back in the list.The location will also include a name forthe displayed number if the name andnumber are stored in the SIM card memory.


➀ Press MENU 1 2. The phone numberof the most recent caller appears onthe display.

➁ Press to scroll to the next number.Use the key ABC to see if there is anyname with the number.

➂ Press to dial the number dis-played.

Missed Calls (MENU 1 3)The Missed Calls memory locations, in-dexed as U0-U4, contains up to five tele-phone numbers/-names of the people whohave tried to call you without getting anyanswer. The phone number of a missedcall is only stored if the network supportsthis function and if the calling phone pro-vides its identity. When a new call comesin, the older numbers move back in the list.Only five different numbers can be storedin the memory even if there had been morecall attempts.

If the name and number are stored in theSIM card memory, the location will also in-clude a name for the displayed number.


➀ Press or when the ... CALLSMISSED is on the display or pressMENU 1 3. A display message showsthe number of missed calls. The phonenumber of the most recent caller thenappears on the display.

➁ Press to scroll to the next number.Use the key ABC to see if there isname with the number.

➂ Press to dial the number dis-played.

Note:If a new SIM card, which is not recognisedas an owner card, is inserted into thephone, the missed calls list will be erased.See also menu 5 2, Security Level.

Erase Calls (MENU 1 4)With the Erase Calls function you can resetthe dialled, received and missed calls listsand temporary memory.

Press MENU 1 4, and the number lists andtemporary memory will be erased.

Erase Memory (MENU 1 5)With the Erase Memory function you canclear memory locations.

To erase the information from the memory:

➀ Press MENU 1 5.

➁ Press or to select one of the alter-natives ONE BY ONE or ALL AT ONCEand press M to confirm.

• If you select ONE BY ONE, the promptNAME? is displayed. Key in the nameto be erased and press M.To confirm, press M again.

Or:Press ABC and the prompt LOCA-TION? is displayed. Key in the memorylocation number to be erased andpress M.To confirm, press M again.

• If you select ALL AT ONCE, the promptARE YOU SURE? is shown. Press M toconfirm.

Voice Mailbox Number (MENU 1 6)You can store the telephone number ofyour voice mailbox here.

➁ Key in the voice mailbox number, oredit the phone number displayed.

Own Number (MENU 1 7)You can check the phone number as-signed to the SIM card. Note that this func-tion is not available with all SIM cards.

Press MENU 1 7, press ABC to see ifthere is an associated name.

Messages (MENU 2)You can send and receive short text mes-sages through the Short Message Service,SMS if your network operator supportsthese services.

SMS MessagesYour phone is able to send and receiveshort text messages of up to 160 charac-ters in length.

Before you can send messages, you musthave the phone number of your messageservice centre. You can store the numberin the memory, menu 2 3 1. Contact yournetwork operator for details.

When you send an SMS message fromyour phone and the recepient’s phone isnot on the network, or is switched off, themessage service will continue trying tosend it for a week.

When your phone receives an SMS mes-sage, it is stored in the area reserved forSMS messages in the SIM card memory.Most of the SIM cards have memory spacefor storing messages.

Read Messages (MENU 2 1)When the phone is switched on and youhave received new message(s), the indica-tor and the text MESSAGES RE-CEIVED appear on the display.

➀ To read the messages, press whenMESSAGES RECEIVED is on the dis-play or press MENU 2 1.The number of new messages is dis-played.

➁ Wait for the header of the first messageto be displayed.The header shows the message status,NEW (unread message) or OLD (readmessage) and the time and date themessage was received.

➂ Press or to read all messages insequence. If is pressed repeatedly,the messages are displayed in the or-der which they are stored in the mem-ory. The index display shows thememory location where the message isstored.

➃ Press and hold C to quit the messagefunction.

When the indicator is flashing, themessage memory is full. New incomingmessages are rejected until the messagememory is cleared.To clear a message, press C while themessage or its header is on the displayand press M to confirm.

Write Messages (MENU 2 2)

➀ Enter the Write Messages menu bypressing MENU 2 2.You can also edit an old message bypressing M while reading the message.

➁ Key in the message of up to 160 char-acters.You can make changes in themessage. Use and to move thecursor right and left, respectively, andC to delete a single character.To insert a space, press # in alphamode.Press ABC to select the numeric modefor keying in numbers.

➂ When the message is ready, you canstore it by pressing M, e.g., if you wantto send the message later.

➃ To send the message, press andthe phone asks for the phone number.

➄ Key in the recipient’s phone numberand press M or .

You can only send one message at a time.Sending takes a little time and if success-ful, it will be confirmed by MESSAGE SENT.If the transmission fails for any reason, thephone will report e.g. SENDING FAILED,NO NET SUPPORT.If you try to send another message whilethe previous one is still being sent, SEND-ING PREVIOUS will appear on the display.

Message Settings (MENU 2 3)Under this submenu, you can set the mes-sage centre number and select in whichformat the message is to be sent.

Message Centre (MENU 2 3 1)

In order to send SMS messages, thephone must know the phone number ofyour Short Message Service Centre.

You will obtain the phone number fromyour network operator upon your subscrip-tion to the SMS message service.

➀ Press MENU 2 3 1 to enter the Mes-sage Centre menu.

➁ Key in the phone number of the mes-sage service centre, or edit the phonenumber displayed.

➂ Press M to confirm.

Message Format (MENU 2 3 2)

The network may be able to convert yourtext messages into one of the following for-mats: FORMAT TEXT (normal text mes-sage), FORMAT FAX, FORMAT PAGER orFORMAT EMAIL message.

Cut NumberYou can copy a phone number that ap-pears in a message onto the display andthen store it in a desired memory location.The phone number must be at least threedigits long. An international prefix (+),hyphen (-) and spaces between digits areallowed in the number.

To copy the number, press R when read-ing the message and the phone numberappears on the display.Press to call the number, orstore the phone number in the memory.


Call Divert (MENU 3)The phone offers you a possibility to divertyour incoming calls to another telephonenumber when you do not want to be dis-turbed, or when the phone is switched offor outside the network service area. Con-tact your network operator for more infor-mation.

Lights (MENU 4 4)The phone’s keypad and display are fittedwith backlights to make them easy to see.The lights come on when you press a keyand go off 15 seconds after you lastpressed a key or after the phone hasstopped ringing (LIGHTS ON) or are perma-nently off (LIGHTS OFF).

When phone is in a Car Kit, the lights arepermanently on (LIGHTS ON) or go off 15seconds after you pressed a key (LIGHTSOFF).

One Key Calling (MENU 4 5)Store frequently used phone numbers inthe memory, and activate the One Key Call-ing function. Then with the display clear,phone numbers in memory locations 1-9can be rapidly dialled by pressing and hold-ing the respective number key.

Automatic Redial (MENU 4 6)The number you are trying to call or the cel-lular network may be busy. You can set thephone to redial a number automatically.The phone will make a maximum ten re-tries. You can end the call attempts bypressing or restart the redialing bypressing .

Automatic Answer (MENU 4 7)When the phone is connected to a HF CarKit or to a Headset, you can set the phoneto answer a call automatically after one ring.

Keyguard (MENU 4 8)The keypad lock, keyguard, prevents keyfrom being accidentally pressed when, forexample, the phone is in your pocket.When the keyguard is On, calls may bepossible to the emergency number pro-grammed into your phone (e.g. 112 orother official emergency number), but theemergency number will be shown on thedisplay only when all the digits have beenkeyed in.

To activate the keyguard:Press MENU 4 8 (or press MENU ✱).

When any key is pressed when key-guard is active, the PRESS MENU ✱

prompt will appear. You can answeran incoming call in the normal way bypressing . During a call the key-guard is not active and you can oper-ate the phone as usual. When the callis finished, the keyguard becomes ac-tive again.

Press MENU and ✱ to deactivate the key-guard.

Language (MENU 4 9)You can select the language for the displaytexts. The alternative languages areHungarian, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish,Danish, Dutch, German, English, French,Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Rus-sian, Turkish, Polish and Czech.If you choose AUTO SELECT, the phonewill set the language according to the infor-mation in the SIM card inserted into thephone.

Security Options (MENU 5)

PIN Code Request (MENU 5 1)You can select whether or not the phone,with the SIM card inserted, asks for thePIN code when you switch the phone on.

However, the network operator may config-ure the SIM card so that you can not dis-able the PIN code request. If that is thecase, the message NOT ALLOWED will beshown on the display when you select PINCode Request.

Key press sequency:MENU 5 1, key in your PIN code, M, or

to select REQUEST ON or REQUESTOFF, M

Security Level (MENU 5 2)The phone can be set at two different secu-rity levels. When the security level setting isactive, the security code will be requiredwhenever you insert a new SIM card.

➂ Press or to select a security leveloptionNO SECURITYno security code is needed when thephone is switched on with a new SIMcard inserted.

PHONE SECURITYthe security code is required if you in-sert a SIM card that the phone doesnot recognise as an owner card. Afterthe correct security code is keyed in,the card is recognised as an ownercard.

➃ Press M to confirm your choice.

When you change the security level, the listof dialled calls, received calls and missedcalls will be erased.

Change PIN2 Code (MENU 5 3 3)

To change your PIN2 code:

Change Password (MENU 5 3 4)

A network password is required when youwish to use the barring services of your net-work. You can change the network pass-word provided that the phone is registeredon the network.

Restore Settings (MENU 5 4)You can reset the menu functions to theoriginal factory settings if you have losttrack of your customised settings. Thememory, timers, counters and languageare not reset.

Call Info (MENU 6)

Call Timers (MENU 6 1)The phone shows the duration of the lastcall and the duration of all the calls (inhours, minutes and seconds) made and re-ceived after you last reset the timer. Youcan set call duration timers to zero.

Inserting a new SIM card does not clearthe call timers.

Call Costs (MENU 6 2)This network function allows you to checkthe cost of your last call and the total costof all the calls. The costs are shown incharging units or units of the currency ifgiven in the menu ‘Costs Display’. You canalso set the call costs counters to zero.

TOTAL:indicates the total cost of all calls

CLEAR COUNTERSsets both call counters to zero.The phone prompts for your PIN2code. Key in the code, and press M toconfirm it.

Note:All actual invoice for calls and services fromyour service provider may vary, dependingupon network features, rounding-off for bill-ing, taxes and so forth.

Cost Limit (MENU 6 3)This network function allows you to set acost limit for the calls with your SIM card.The phone will display the amount of avail-able units or currency. When the cost limi-tation is active, calls can be made as longas the limit is not exceeded. If the CostsDisplay is set to COSTS IN UNITS, thecost limit must be set as call charging units.

➀ Press MENU 6 3.

➁ Key in your PIN2 code.

➂ Press M to confirm it.

➃ Press or to selectSET LIMITfor limitation of call costs. Press M andset the currency value by using thenumber keys. The decimal point is cre-ated with the key ✱ or #. E.g. for23.40, key in 23✱40.

Costs Display (MENU 6 4)This network function allows you to selectthe currency mode, that is to set a callcharging unit price and a currency name.The maximum length for a currency nameis three characters, e.g. £, FIM.

➀ Press MENU 6 4. The phone promptsyou to enter the PIN2 code.

➁ Key in the PIN2 code.


➃ Use or to select COSTS IN CUR-RENCY or COSTS IN UNITS andpress M.If you select COSTS IN CURRENCY,the phone prompts you for a unit pricefor the call charging, PRICE.


Key in the price e.g. 1✱04 for 1.04.Press M. The phone prompts you forthe currency, CURRENCY.Key in the currency e.g. £ or FIM andpress M.

Cell Info (MENU 6 5)Micro Cellular Network, MCN, providesGSM service in densely populated areasby using small cells and offering potentiallylower costs to MCN subscribers. As costcharging within MCN cell may differ fromthe regular GSM cell, the phone can be setto display which kind of cell it is using.

To set the Cell Info display ON:

➀ Press MENU 6 5.

➁ Use or to select INFO ON.


Network Select (MENU 7)In the automatic network selection modethe phone will automatically attempt to reg-ister on the network it was last registeredon. If the phone does not find that net-work, it will search for the home networkwhich is the network run by the operatorwhose SIM card is in your phone. If thehome network is not found, the phone willsearch for another available network whichhas a valid roaming agreement with yourhome operator, and it will then register onthat network.

Selecting a Network ManuallyIn the manual network selection, the phonewill show a list of available networks fromwhich you can select. When the network isselected manually, the phone will notchange to another network if it loses con-tact with the selected one. The phone willstay in manual mode until the automaticmode is selected or another SIM card is in-serted in the phone.

➀ Press MENU 7.

➁ Press or to select MANUAL SE-LECT, and press M. The phone scansfor available networks. During thesearch the message SEARCH ACTIVEwill be displayed. Do not press any keywhile this takes place as it may termi-nate the search.

➂ Press or to scroll through the listof available networks.

➃ Press M to register on the network se-lected.If your home operator does not have aroaming agreement with the selectednetwork, the message NO ACCESS isdisplayed and another network mustbe selected.

➁ The pointer can be moved to the left orright by pressing or .

➂ Press C and the digit to the left of thepointer will be deleted.The added digits will appear also onthe left side of the pointer.

➃ Press M to confirm when the numberhas been edited.

Keep the phone and all its parts and acces-sories out of small children’s reach.

As with other mobile radio transmitting equip-ment, users are advised that for the satisfactoryoperation of the equipment and for the safety ofpersonnel, it is recommended that the equip-ment should only be used in the normal operat-ing position.

Users are advised to switch off the phone whenat a refuelling point (service station). Users are re-minded of the need to observe restrictions onthe use of radio equipment in fuel depots (fuelstorage and distribution areas), chemical plantsor where blasting operations are in progress.

Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gases orexplosive materials in the same compartment asthe phone, its parts or accessories.

Remember, to make or receive any calls thephone must be switched on and in a servicearea with adequate cellular signal strength.Emergency calls may not be possible on all cellu-lar phone networks or when certain networkservices and/or phone features are in use.Check with local cellular service providers.


To make an emergency call:

➀ If the phone is not on, switch it on.Some networks may require that a valid SIMcard is properly inserted in the phone.

➁ Press and hold the C key for several sec-onds to ready the phone for calls.

➂ Key in the emergency number for your pre-sent location (e.g. 112 or other official emer-gency number). Emergency numbers varyby location.

➃ Press the key.

If certain features are in use (Keyguard, Call Re-stricting etc.), you may first need to turn thosefeatures off before you can make an emergencycall. Consult this document and your local cellu-lar service provider.

When making an emergency call, remember togive all the necessary information as accuratelyas possible. Remember that your cellular phonemay be the only means of communication at thescene of an accident - do not cut off the call un-til given permission to do so.
