The sound of the ensemble ranges from light and transparent classical textures to jazz grooves and mysterious sounds of free improvisation. The most important concept for Cloud Ludum is building a strong emotional and intellectual connection with the audience while exploring various musical landscapes. What makes Cloud Ludum project unique is the combination of spontaneity and prepared material, the ability to create an elaborate musical composition on the spot in such a way that it equally involves and belongs to the players, the composer and the audience. The ensemble was formed in 2010 and since then presented numerous concerts in the Boston area in such venues as Berklee Performance Center, Hynes Convention Center (as a featured ensemble for High School Jazz Festival), MIT Bartos Theater, Durgin Hall (UMass Lowell), Xibus Performace Hall, Studio 401 at Boston Conservatory, Lilypad, Outpost 186 and others. Cloud Ludum experiments a lot with various types of improvisation and even performance of contemporary classical pieces (Bartok, Brouwer, Ravel, Stockhausen etc.) always include improvised sections. This makes every performance a unique act of communication between musicians and audience. Cloud Ludum has a large repertoire of pieces that includes original compositions and arrangements of contemporary music in thirdKstream and avantKgarde idiom.
