EIB-E Electronic Inspection Board with Accu-Count Entanglement (ACE) INTRODUCTION The uniformity of the yarn has always been an important quality control parameter as it affects the commercial value of the yarn. Defects such as thick places, thin places, neps, hairiness and yarn appearance contribute to the overall yarn uniformity and altogether they define the quality of the end product. The Electronic Inspection Board, EIB-S offers a very quick and unbiased yarn analysis based on the dynamic yarn diameter measurements. A CCD camera is used to measure the diameter values with 3.5micron precision when the yarn is moving at test speeds up to 300m/min. A complete YAS report will include Yarn Analysis Report Table, Diameter Standard Deviation and CV%, followed by Yarn Blackboard Display. Since the data is saved, you can always go back and look at the Yarn Profile. You can also program the software to do a hairiness (broken filament) test right after the evenness test or run it as a stand-alone test by itself. At the end of the hairiness test, the program will display the hairiness count and yarn profile. YAS software and camera system provide the ability to test both natural and synthetic yarns as well as high performance yarns such as covered elastomeric yarns, carbon yarns, glassyarns and their hybrids, which cannot be tested with capacitive based systems. Other application areas for the YAS include analysis of air texturized yarn loops, slubs and special effect distribution and coverage.

YARN ANALYSIS SOFTWARE (YAS)

Yarn Analysis Software, YAS is Windows based and it provides complete numerical and visual analysis about the yarn defects, yarn appearance quality, broken filaments and hairiness for all types of yarns. The program uses a CCD camera system, which scans every section of the yarn with 3.5micron precision. Uniquely in the industry, this diameter information is saved for the entire test length. This provides a powerful tool to allow the operator to change board length and yarn fault parameters without retesting the yarn.

A complete YAS report will include Yarn Analysis Report Table, Diameter Standard Deviation and CV%, followed by Yarn Blackboard Display. Since the data is saved, you can always go back and look at the Yarn Profile. You can also program the software to do a hairiness (broken filament) test right after the evenness test or run it as a stand-alone test by itself. At the end of the hairiness test, the program will display the hairiness count and yarn profile.
