Located on a 175-acre campus in Danvers, Massachusetts, St. John’s is a Catholic, Xaverian Brother Sponsored School for boys in grades 6 through 12. This position calls for a highly responsible electrician, who puts a high priority on all safety precautions and is experienced working in different kinds of electrical devices and to minimize the probability of accidents and maximize usability of electricity in all campus facilities. The successful candidate will maintain a positive attitude, provide exceptional customer service, work effectively – individually and on teams – to support the Facilities Department in maintaining a high level of satisfaction. This position is considered “essential,” and will be part of the 24/7 emergency call list for facility related emergencies. Essential employees, when called upon, are expected to be on-site during emergency situations, including but not limited to snow storms and other severe weather, in order to ensure the safety of the buildings and building occupants. Responsibilities Execute plans for electrical wiring to ensure that lighting, intercom and other electrical systems function properly. Install electrical wiring in buildings and poles, troubleshoot malfunctions and blackouts, and repair appliances. Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems. Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.) Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components. Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them. Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc. Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions, and repair or substitute damaged units. Requirements

• Valid license to work as an electrician. • Proven experience as an electrician. • Experience with industrial and/or commercial electrical systems. • Demonstrated ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter,

etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints. • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines. • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability. • Excellent physical condition. • Available weekends, as needed. • Flexibility to work long shifts and overnight.
