1/1
Human body is a conductor of electricity. When any two parts of the
body are at two different potentials an electric cur rent will flow
Basics of electrical shocks
ELECTRICAL SHOCK Causes & Consequences
Wet conditions are common during low-voltageelectrocut ion. Under dry conditions, human skin
is having high resistance (approx. 1,00,000ohm). Wet skin dramatically drops the body
resistance (approx. 1000 ohm)
Dry conditions: Current = Volts/ Ohms = 120/1,00,000 = 1mA
Wet conditions: Current = Volts/ Ohms = 120/
1,000= 120mA, which is sufficient to causeventricular fibrillation
LOW VOLTAGE DOES NOT IMPLY LOW HAZARD!
