VPI(Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) Procedure for Coil
Dry mica tape was developed for vacuum pressureimpregnation of electric motors. It is made by using variousadhesives, supporting materials and catalysts, according toour customer's requirements. Because the tape contains asmall amount of adhesive, it has excellent impregnationproperties. Our special SKF type contains Nomex fibrid in the micapaper. These Nomex fibrids hold the mica particlestogether.

Prepreg mica tapes are semi-cured tape made withcalcined muscovite mica paper impregnated with heatresistant epoxy resin. They are bonded to varioussupporting materials such as glass-cloth, polyester filmand polyester fleece. When the prepreg mica tape is subjected to heat andpressure after it is wound on coils, the resin flows and thenhardens to form a void-free insulating material.Since it is in semi-cured form, it is necessary to store atbelow 10℃ and used within 3 months.�Curing Conditions : 1 hour at 160℃under the pressure
of 7kgf/cm2

We also manufacture solvent and non-solvent type resinsthat meet heat resistant levels to Class F and Class H. The excellent impregnation gives good adhesion, electrical andmechanical properties.

This mica tape is used for insulation of copper conductorsfor high voltage motors and generators. It has excellentflexibility which gives good bonding to the copperconductor. We have two types; The VPI type uses a small amount ofadhesive resin and has excellent impregnation properties.The Resin Rich type is a prepreg mica tape impregnatedwith epoxy resin.When it is subject to heat and pressure, the resin flows andcures forming the strong insulation layer without the needof vacuum pressure impregnation. One side or both sidesof the tape can be coated with hot-melt resins asrequested by our customers.SR854T has excellent cut-through resistance and istherefore a suitable conductor insulation material.�Curing Conditions(Resin Rich Type):
1 hour at 160℃under the pressure of 7kgf/cm2

Chemically, NOMEX� paper is aromatic polyamide andgenerally known as aramid. The paper is produced fromtwo forms of fibres known as Fibrids and Floc. These twocomponents are combined in the water-based slurry andpassed through a Fourdrinier paper making machine tobecome NOMEX. This paper is a unique DuPont producthaving the high temperature UL rating, mechanical andelectrical properties, and is used in manufacturing electricmotors, transformers, and other electrical appliances.

PG-F and PG-H are made of highly tensile glass yarns laidparallel and bonded with polyester resin. PG-F is used forClass F insulation and PG-H for Class H insulation.They are supplied in B stage and turn into high tensile andlow elongation insulating material after heat curing. Theyare used to replace steel banding of armature coil of DCmotors and banding of dry type and resin molded typetransformers. PG tapes should be stored at temperatures below 10°C andbrought back to room temperature before use. Shelf life isapproximately 6 months at 20°C and 12 month at 10°C.

EGL is a rigid glass cloth laminate board bonded with epoxyresin using high heat and pressure. It has excellentelectrical properties; high mechanical strength with goodheat resistance. EGL is used as insulation based on electric panels andswitch boards including wedges in electric motors. EGL-40 is UL approved with File No. E102885. EGL-10 and EGL-40 are equivalent to Nema Grade G-10and FR-4 respectively. EGL is used us an insulation boardon electric panel, switchboard and wedges on electricmotor. MFGL is a high heat resistant grade.
