Chapter 2 CNF(16)-U20 ETU Setup

SECTION 1 INSTALLING THE CNF(16)-U20 ETU

1.1 System Requirements

The CNF(16)-U20 ETU is a hot-swappable ETU that can be installed in anyslot in the Electra Elite IPK II KSU. It is recognized by the CPU as a CNF(16)or CNF(8) ETU.

New firmware may be required for the CPU to recognize the CNF(16)-U20 ETUand for the CNF(8)-U20 ETU to initialize correctly.

The Ethernet connector can use a Category 5 (CAT5) unshielded twisted pair(UTP) cable to connect to an Ethernet hub or switch within the customerpremises.

The following steps can be taken to install the CNF(16)-U20 ETU.

1. Place DIP Switch 3 or 4 on SW1 in the position to select the number ofports the card supports.

2. Place DIP Switch 2 on SW1 to ON to configure for simple conference mode.

3. Place the CNF(16)-U20 ETU in the desired slot in the Electra Elite IPK II KSU.

4. After the DS11-DS13 LEDs (LED1-LED3 on the back of the ETU) are on, the unit is fully operational.

5. Connect the Ethernet cable coming from a hub or switch from the customer premises to the connector on the CNF(16)-U20 ETU. Verify that the link light is on green.

At this point, the CNF(16)-U20 ETU is physically accessible. Please see theChapter 3 CNF(16)-U20 ETU Configuration on page 3-1 on how to configurethe CNF(16)-U20 ETU.

1.2 Installation Precautions

The ETUs used in this system make extensive use of CMOS technology that is very susceptible to static electricity. Static discharge must be avoided when handling ETUs. Always use the following precautions.

Wear a grounded wrist strip anytime you handle an ETU.

Make all ETU DIP switch and jumper setting changes before inserting the ETU in the KSU.

Carry ETU in a conductive polyethylene bag to prevent static electricity damage.

SECTION 2 ELITE IPK II PROGRAMMING

The CNF(16)-U20 ETU can be programmed using a Multiline Terminal.

1. To program the system, the CNF(16)-U10 ETU should be installed in thedesirable slot.

2. Programming may be done using the PCPro, WebPro Application, or a Multiline Terminal.

3. The CNF(16)-U10 ETU consumes 16 ports using ports 001~256.

4. Access the Electra Elite IPK II System Programming Speaker # * # * [system password] Transfer.

Consult the System Administrator for system password.

5. Access Data Program 10-03-01 ETU Setup and enter the Slot number of CNF(16)-U10 ETU to verify which ports are used. In the following example the CNF(16)-U10 has been seated in slot 6:

Example: 10-03-01 Slot No 6CNF port 01 Port 33

6. Port 33 [Extension 133] is the first port assigned to the CNF(16)-U10.

7. Dial Extension 133 to verify the CNF(16)-U10 ETU.

When installing the ETU, observe the following precautions to avoid damage to hardware due to static electricity or to being exposed to hazardous voltages.

8. Complete steps 1 - 7 for verification of ETU. Additional programs are provided to configure the hunt group:

Data Program 11-07: Department Group Pilot Numbers.

Use this data setting to designate a pilot number for the Multimedia CNFPorts.

 Data Program 16-01-04: Hunting Mode.

Use this option to set the action taken when a call reaches the lastextension in the department group.

Example: 1=Circular Hunt

Data Program 16-02-01: Department Group Assignment for Extension.

Use this option to designate an extension to a specific department groupnumber.

Example:TEL 133

Extension Grp 5

Data Program 15-03: Single Line Telephone Basic Data Setup.

Data Program 15-03-03: Enter option 1 for this option to allow CNF port toreceive DTMF tones after the initial call setup.

Chapter 3 CNF(16)-U20 ETU Configuration

SECTION 1 CONFIGURING THE CNF(16)-U20 ETU

When installed for the first time, the CNF(16)-U20 ETU comes up with the factorydefault parameters shown in Table 3-1 Network Settings for TCP/IP Addressing.

In this configuration, the ETU cannot run in every environment. Therefore, itsparameters must be defined again before it can work in your environment. Therequired parameters can be set using your web browser and connecting to default IPaddress 192.168.1.100 in the browser navigation address bar.

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher is recommended.

SECTION 2 CONFIGURING THE PC

After the Multilmedia Conference Bridge is installed in the KSU, the PC that is communicating with the CNF(16)-U20 ETU must be configured to recognize the CNF ETU. The PC and CNF ETU must be connected using a straight ethernet cable, crossover cable, and/or a small hub. To ensure proper communication between the PC and the CNF ETU, they must be attached to the same network.

To configure the PC:

1. Press Start and select Control Panel from the menu.

Windows XP Professional operating system is used in this example. When using a different Windows operating system, the screens may look slightly different.
