HSA invites you to our second General Body Meeting of the semester.

“Do You Have What it Takes?” is the third meeting of the “Celebrating Our Roots” series that HSA has devised for the Spring 2014 semester.

Doors open at 6pm. Meeting starts at 6:30pm in Weil Hall Room 270.As always, we will have FREE FOOD when doors open.

UF alumnus Gil Sanchez will visit the University of Florida to retell the story of his campaign for Student Government President. During his campaign in 2001, the words “No Spicks for President” were spray painted on a wall La Casita.Reception to follow. Every other year, the University of Florida hosts a conference to bring together Florida Latino/a College Students from across the state. The Florida Hispanic-Latino Collegiate Forum was established in 1995 at the University of Florida through the Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures.Since then, this leadership conference has continued to grow into a popular statewide event for many leading Hispanic-Latino student leaders from around the state. The Hispanic-Latina/o Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding leaders who have devoted themselves to representing and advancing the Hispanic-Latinocommunity at the University of Florida. Their contributions are seen across campus and are felt even after they graduate. They reflect a sense ofpermanence and positive change. The Hall of Fame highlights these individuals’ efforts at the University through a commemorative ceremony as well as their names engraved on the Hall of Fame plaque located at the Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures.
