An overview
¿Qué es un KIC?
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)
the driving seat!”
Internet,Joint Research Programmes, SET Plan, …), estatales,
“regionales” (RIS 3).

• Fondos nacionales/regionales
• Explotación de resultados de proyectos (% ventas, royalties,
…)
• Beneficios participación en “start-up”s
• Privados (donaciones, …)
ejemplo:
• Proyectos de innovación (v.g. TRL ≥5),
• Formación superior (másteres, doctorados, …) en emprendizaje
• Apoyo a “start-up”s
• Otros
• KCA (“KIC complementary activities”) actividades de I+D+i, emprendizaje y
• Fondos nacionales/regionales
• Explotación de resultados de proyectos (% ventas, royalties, …)
• Beneficios participación en “start-up”s
• Privados (donaciones, …)
• Otros

Vision
KIC on Added Value Manufacturing (KIC AVM) will strengthen
high value and added-value manufacturing industries to
guarantee and improve Europe's competitive position.
It will create value by delivering product and service innovation,
establishing process excellence, forming the innovators of the
future and contributing to a sustainable society.
KIC AVM will enable the manufacturing renaissance in Europe through the creation of jobs, growth and
sustainability.
It will do so by creating a European eco-system for advanced high value and added-value
manufacturing, i.e. a Europe-wide “factory” built upon excellent research, technology development
and education, which will train the future knowledge workers and catalyse a talent-driven
manufacturing innovation and entrepreneurship.

Mission
Research and Development Factories
• incorporate the right people and technology platforms for innovation-
driven research.
• Companies within EIT Manufacturing can initiate projects aiming for
breakthrough research with appropriate partners from universities,
research institutions and (future) customers.
• Promising ideas can rapidly rise in the TRL level by targeting the
potential in well-defined directions.
• EIT Manufacturing will be the only organization able to support
companies in the innovation process in all its facets. It will put all the
competences available among the universities, research centres,
companies in a system organized to follow all the technical and
business steps to bring an idea to the market.
Innovation Factories
• The place where best-in-class experts from different
areas of technology, product design and business model
generation team up in a joint environment that allows
direct implementation of innovative ideas for future
products, services, ideas, methods, business models
and technologies.
• The Innovation Factories also address the specific needs
of early stage start-ups.
• The machine park of the Co-locations can also be used
by the start-up teams to shape their first ideas.
• The immediate production of prototypes at the co-
locations enables fast innovation.
Learning Factories
• Will enable industry to deal with rising complexity and fast changing
environments by education and training.
• One of the core goals is strengthening of the individual’s ability to
tackle new situations creatively and independently.
• Learning Factories aim at closing the gap between theoretical
education and action orientation for students and practitioners and
provide also the ideal environment for lifelong learning (advanced
education).
• Companies can set-up innovation projects, which are tackled by
students, doctoral researchers and company members.
• The students will work in trans-national and trans-disciplinary teams
to boost innovation by creativity and considering different
perspectives.
