It may be difficult to understand why an abuse victim does not come forward immediately to report an assault. For those who have suffered sexual assault or abuse, denial can be a powerful defense mechanism, one that allows them to cope with the trauma and its aftermath. Al acercarnos a nuestra Jornada Cuaresmal este Miércoles de Ceniza, quiero tomar la oportunidad de invitar a todos a seguir teniendo en mente una oración activa diariamente por aquellos que llevan la carga de una cruz pesada en sus vidas. La Cuaresma es un momento muy especial en

que venimos como indivíduos y proclamamos públicamente que caminaremos en oración y ayuno. Que nuestro deseo de caminar como una comunidad de fe nos dé también la sabiduría de pedir y ofrecer nuestras oraciones por aquellos que sufren y que son los más vulnerables de nuestra sociedad. Cada uno de nosotros puede en realidad pensar en alguien o un grupo de personas que llevan una carga pesada. Llevémoslos en oración y acción a nuestro Dios amoroso que responde a nuestras propias oraciones y necesidades. Si es Su voluntad, que también nos dé ese deseo de hacer algo para levantar el gran peso de nuestros hermanos. Junto, podemos ayudar a los demás. Hagamos lo que es correcto después de haber escuchado en oración al Espíritu Santo.

From the desk of Padre Jose, As we approach our Lenten Journey this Ash Wednesday, I want to take a moment to invite all of us to continue having in mind a daily active prayer for those who are carrying the burden of heavy crosses in their lives. Lent is a very special moment where we come individually and say publicly that we will journey in prayer and fasting. May our desire to walk as a faithful community also give us the wisdom to pray and offer prayers for those who are suffering and are the most vulnerable in our society. Each one of us can definitely think of a person or a group of people who carry a heavy burden. Let us take them in prayer and action to our loving God who answers all our prayers and needs. If it is His Will, may He also grant us the desire to do something to lift the heavy burden of our brothers and sisters. Together, we can help each other. Let us do the right thing after listening in prayer to the voice of the Holy Spirit. I pray to see all of you and start our Lenten Journey this Wednesday. Please note the schedule.
