Twitter is celebrating its 8th birthday. It seems strange that a platform so fundamental to marketing departments across the world was launched less than a decade ago.
To celebrate, Twitter has created the #firsttweet tool - taking users down memory lane and giving us a chance to see the first piece of wisdom we shared with the world.
Apart from amusing ourselves with colleagues' nervous first words on the social network, we thought we would put the tool to good use and check out some of the first missives from some of the top B2B brands in the world.
When did they set up on Twitter? What was their first Tweet? And how many followers do they have today?

● It took 2 years (not too surprising) for big business brands to hop onto the Twitter train
● Even brands who were early adopters like BT have struggled to build a mass following
● Cisco took to Twitter like a duck to water - and still leads the way in b2b social media best practice
● Google knew from day 1 that twitter was a way to express your brand (Deloitte took a bit longer)
● It's never too late - O2 business were late adopters but have built a large engaged network.
