EIFS BRIEFS—SPECIAL EDITION 2015 ANNUAL MEETING RECAP
OPENING GENERAL SESSION K ICKS OFF ACTIVITIES This year’s Opening General
Session kicked off following an
afternoon of committee meet-
ings. David Boivin (Sto Corp.)
and David Johnston (EIMA)
started the meeting by provid-
ing both industry and associa-
tion updates. Special recogni-
tion was given to Peter Balint
during this time, who previous-
ly announced his retirement
from Dryvit Systems, Inc.
Following upon the success of
last year’s design, the general
sessions were split up to make
room for updates, awards, and David Boivin

Two of the measures of suc-
cess for an association are the
growth of membership and
industry numbers. For all in-
tents and purposes 2014 was
a phenomenal year for EIMA.
Membership numbers nearly
doubled with sizeable increas-
speakers. This year’s speak-
er was Michael Chambers, a
construction product mar-
keting consultant, who
asked attendees to consider
their messaging when work-
ing on a sale. Chambers
provided a range of relevant
discussion points that the
industry has already been
grappling with.
As the Opening General Ses-
sion concluded, it marked
the beginning of the
“California Sunset” cocktail
reception.
es in contractor and distribu-
tor categories, while it was
reported that the industry
has witnessed an 11% rise
over the last year. The 2015
EIMA Annual Meeting contin-
ued this success and set
course for the next year.

Motivated new committee
members, the initiation of a
marketing plan, the launch of
an EIFS insurance taskforce,
and several speakers high-
lighted a successful trip to
Long Beach, California this
year.
Have you been waiting to
see those photos you
posed for during the cock-
tail reception? Or have you
been crossing your fingers
they would never be pub-
lished? The “California
Sunset” Cocktail Reception
was sponsored by RADCO,
Intertek-Architectural Test-
ing and Wind-lock. If the
view wasn’t reason enough

THE “CALIFORNIA SUNSET” COCKTAIL RECEPTION
Following cocktails, VELA
Insurance Services again
sponsored the Associate
Members Dinner, held at
Parkers’ Lighthouse. VELA
has been a loyal supporter
and contributor to the EIFS
industry and EIMA over the
past four years. Present for the
dinner were 60 plus EIMA
members, including this year’s
Associate Member of the Year,
Herman Guevara, Eugene Stark, Rick Fajardo
P. Daeschel, M. Parker, B. Chang, G. Reach
to get you looking out the
windows, the signs adver-
tising the RADCO Runner
probably did the trick. As
many of you recall, this is
when the photographer
found some of his best
shots from the event. Eve-
ryone put their best foot
forward, but let us know
who you think donned the
props most enthusiastically! Scott Metko and Pete Raney

CLOSING GENERAL SESSION
Volume 4 , Issue 3
Peter Balint and David Boivin David Boivin, Steve Pedracine, Dave Johnston
Now in its second year, the
Closing General Session
kicked off the final day of the
Annual Meeting. Committee
chairs provided a recap of
2014 and what to expect in
2015. After the updates, it
was time to announce the
recipients of the Mike
Sweeney Press Award and
the Associate Member of the
Year Award (sponsored by
Vela Insurance Services).
This year’s big winners were
Steven Pedracine and his
article “Why EIFS Are Number
One”, and ADFORS Saint-
Gobain as the Associate
Member of the Year. As proof
that we didn’t make the rep-
resentatives from SaintGobain
aware of their victory, they all
appeared in golf shorts and
shirts for the photo.

Last year’s presenter was the
widely popular Dr. Joseph
Lstiburek, who many of us
have seen and heard on mul-
tiple occasions. There are few
individuals who are well suit-
ed to follow Dr. Lstiburek, and
Chris Mathis is one of them.
His presentation, Low Hang-
ing Fruit? Harvesting Energy
Efficiency by Retrofitting
America’s Existing Building,
was well-received throughout
the packed room.
The conclusion of this session
meant only one thing, it was
time to golf!
