Join EHRA, for the 2010 Spring Seminar which features legal updates, effective leadership skills, and other information that will provide insights into hot Human Resources related topics and trends. The sessions offer top national and state speakers. Brian L. McDermott JD, with Ogletree Deakins will be the opening speaker for the seminar. Mr. McDermott was named the Best Lawyers of America from 2005-10, selected as an Indi-ana Super Lawyer from 2005-10, and identified as a leading labor and employment lawyer in Chambers USA America’s Leading Business Lawyers in 2004-07, 2009. For over 17 years, Mr. McDermott has dedicated himself to representing and providing advice to private and public employers on a variety of labor and employment issues, including the FMLA, ADA, Title VII, ADEA, ERISA, FLSA, NLRA, covenant not to compete/trade secret matters, wage claims, and wrongful discharge. Steven Pockrass, JD with Ogletree Deakins counsels and defends management on a wide range of labor, employment and personnel matters. Mr. Pockrass is AV rated by Martin-dale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can receive. A frequent speaker and writer, Mr. Pockrass is the appendix editor of the FMLA treatise published by BNA Books. He is a member of the American Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law’s Fair Labor Standards Legislation Committee and has been a contrib-uting author of several annual Midwinter Meeting Reports of the FMLA Subcommittee. Jane Sanders is a consultant, coach and speaker who helps companies create inclusive GenderSmart cultures for both men and women. Jane has 17 years of corporate experience in sales and marketing and over 15 years as president of her own successful company. Her academic background is in business, communication, and psychology, including an MBA from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Jane is author of GenderSmart®: Solving The Communication Puzzle Between Men and Women. Steve Savage is a teacher, trainer, consultant and co-owner of Sandy/Savage and Associ-ates. For more than 25 years he has worked with people with disabilities, their families, schools, businesses and agencies. Steve has taught at all levels of education, from pre-school to university classes. His areas of interest are employment, self employment, per-son centered planning, school to work transition, community inclusion, organizational de-velopment and systems change. Current work includes projects in his home state of Indi-ana and across the country consulting and coordinating projects to develop a statewide Business Leadership Network, improve transition outcomes for students, and implement organizational change. Daniel Grundmann, SPHR is the City of Bloomington’s Director of Employee Services. He currently serves as lead business representative on the DiversityWorks Business Leader Network, is a member of the Indiana University SPEA Service Corps Fellow Advisory Com-mittee, the Public Law 221 Jackson Creek Middle School Improvement Committee. Dan will share his experiences with DiversityWorks Business leader Network. This should be a very informative seminar, and application has been made to HRCI for 5.5 credit hours(2 strategic credit and 3.5 general). The University of Southern Indiana, University of Evansville and Oakland City University are seeking volunteers for a job shadow program. The goal is to get HR students the ability to see what happens first-hand in our area businesses. EHRA adds 15 members in February and March The Evansville-Area Human Resources Association is happy to recognize our newest members. Jamie Fairchild is one of the 15 new and returning members to EHRA. Jamie currently works in the Human Resources Department at Bernardin, Lochmueller & Associates. Jamie joined EHRA to meet other HR professionals and keep up with cur-rent HR issues. Her favorite aspect of her job is working with and helping people. Congratulations Mike Murphy, the 2009 EHRA Professional of the Year
Mike Murphy, Compensation and Benefits Director at Shoe Carnival, was chosen as the 15th local HR professional to become EHRA’s Pro-fessional of the Year. Mike was surprised with an awards ceremony at the Shoe Carnival corporate office on March 8, 2010 and formally rec-ognized at the March 24, 2010 general meeting at USI. This annual award presented by EHRA honors those that represent “the best” in the HR Management profession. Mike was chosen for his work not only in the local community where he currently assists with the Castle Band, but also on the national stage where Mike currently serves as a member of the Special Expertise Panel on the Total Rewards / Com-pensation and Benefits for SHRM. This was Mike’s second volunteer
of the year award in the past twelve months; the first rec-ognized him as the 2009 Indiana State Conference Volun-teer of the Year. Please join us in con-gratulating Mike for winning this great award!
