PREAMBLE

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology of Dr. B.C Roy

Engineering College (BCREC), Durgapur organized the Students’ Paper Contest on “Ethical Hacking-

Issues & Challenges (EHIC-2012) at Dr. B.C Roy Engineering College, Durgapur on November 20, 2012.

The Program Chair and Organizing Secretary of the EHIC-2012 was Prof. (Dr.) Sanjoy Biswas and Prof.

(Dr.) Chandan Koner respectively. Prof. Saikat Maity was the Publication Chair, Prof. Subir Haldar was the

Publicity Chair, Prof. Suvobrata Sarkar was the Sponsorship Chair and Prof. Hiranmay Samaddar was the

Coordinator of EHIC-2012. EHIC-2012 was technically sponsored by IEEE Communication Society,

Kolkata Chapter and Internet Society, India Kolkata Chapter. These organizations have extended their

technical support to make this event truly at the national level.

TECHNICAL SESSION

In terms of technical paper submission, the EHIC-2012 has received a very good response from students and

researchers from Bengal and other parts of India. After critical peer review by our senior experts, only

thirteen of the papers got accepted for the publication and presentation. These papers have been published in

the refereed journal The Bulletin of Engineering & Science (ISSN: 09747176). Needless to say this will

definitely encourage and motivate the students of the colleges and universities towards the critical problem

solving skills on issues of contemporary importance. The accepted papers were presented to an audience of

research oriented students and professional researchers, professors and scientists. There was a questions-

answer session of adequate duration after each presentation. The best papers (three in number) were

recognized by the award of certificates and prizes. Overall, the event attained a good standard.
