• Egypt is said to have the 1st great art style
• 3 purposes for art• Art for the home• Art for the gods• Art for the dead
• There were strict rules the artists had to follow
• Paintings had to have • Side view of the feet• Front view of the shoulders• Side view of the head• Front view of one eye
• Their gods were the combination of animal forms and human forms.
• This shows the god Annubis with the head of a jackal mummifying the king
• Annubis is weighing the heart of the dead• Larger figures were considered more important
than smaller figures
• They used a grid to exactly measure the size of the figures
• Painting was often narrative which means it told a story. This painting shows a cow being slaughtered and then taken to the king to be eaten.
• This painting shows the king doing a little hunting while in his boat. His queen and his servant are with him
