2014

We are excited about the progress made on Hope Academy last year and the plans for the year to come. In 2014 we visited the property and thankfully acquired the title to the land! This year, we are eager to start and finish building the academy and begin a tradition of excellent education for the most impoverished of the Kibera slum. By providing an education to the least of these, especially young women who frequently lack access to education, we are investing in the community’s transformation.

// MENTORSHIP

EGC commissioned 4 young women to make over 500 pieces of jewelry as part of its Empowerment initiative. This provided them with income to sustain them for 2 months. We raised $500 in initial investment capital prior to leaving for Kenya that was used to purchase the jewelry. To date we have raised $993 from the sales of the jewelry in the States and will be sending 100% of the proceeds back to be reinvested into female entrepreneurs.
