Long standing Sunshine Coast councillor has decided to call it a day after 28 years in local government 14 years as a councillor officer and 14 years as a councillor. Paul did not nominate for re-election for the poll to be held on Saturday 28 April citing serious health issues and changes to personal circumstances.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in local government, I have met and worked with some very talented and wonderful people, and I have had the opportunity to be involved in some great projects. It has been a pleasure representing the Eumundi, Nambour, Yandina, Kenilworth and Mapleton communities, Paul said.

General manager appointed At its board meeting in November last year, the directors decided it was time to advertise and then appoint a part-time General Manager to oversee and develop ECCOs ve business units. This decision was taken after careful consideration of a detailed options paper prepared by the former chairman on the necessity for organisational change in this expanding company.The appointment will ensure the ecient operation of the companys business units Car Park, Eumundi Green, Community Bus, Experience Eumundi and the Eumundi Family Medical Centre. The businesses are at a stage in their development where they require hands on management and day to day support to ensure that the community needs and service continue to be met.After an extensive recruitment process, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Joyce Turnbull as ECCOs General Manager. Joyce commenced duties on Friday 16th March 2012 and she has a proud record in the local community and a strong background in corporate life and education. This is my swan song as your managing editor please see page 13.

Its been nearly six years of editing and a year before that in planning for the Green. Its time for a change personally and professionally but Ill be around to lead the changeover to new editorial arrangements and to work ongoing with the new editor to ensure the sustainability of the community magazine.

The genesis of Eumundi Green came from a public meeting of residents on 27 July 2004 at the School of Arts. Change was on the agenda then too. The Noosa by-pass to Eumundi was a reality and the main street had lost the constant rumbling of trucks taking building materials to Noosa. This seemed to facilitate a subtle return of the village to its people and gave inspiration to residents new and old to band together with renewed spirit.

It was this spirit on show at the meeting in 2004 and the listing of a community newspaper as a priority for better community communication then that in time led to yours truly taking the plunge personally to begin Eumundi Green. At the launch on 4 July 2006 at a packed School of Arts I promised that John and I would personally underpin the venture and that I would be editor for one year. The confidence to have a crack at it was from the support shown by potential advertisers and the community. The one year commitment turned into more than three buoyed by the support from advertisers and readers.

Eumundi Combined Community Organisation Ltd acquired Eumundi Green in late 2010 making it truly a community magazine. Community support underpinned that successful transition and I ask for your assistance now in another transition.

Thank you to everyone for being on the journey with the Green I hope you agree its a great ride to be on.

In 2001 we moved to the Sunshine Coast from Sydney to get away from the big smoke. We searched the coastal towns from southern NSW to

Noosa to find the ideal location for a simpler life, and once we saw the Sunshine Coast we were sold; then it was just a matter of finding the ideal home. It was going to be either beach or bush, and the bush won out, hands down. Doonan, our street, and our home offers so much of what we treasure peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of city life, wonderful bird life, wallabies and kangaroos wandering through our unfenced block, pitch black or starlit nights with no interference from the city lights.

All that, and we are ten minutes to the beach and only 90 minutes from an international airport what more could one want! Of course, were both active in our local communities and we love it!

Positive working capital is a must

Well times are tough. We all know that. But what is the key thing to survive in tough times?The basic rule is to focus on ensuring you always maintain a

positive working capital in your business.Simply that means your cash plus your debtors must exceed your

creditors. Of course strictly speaking stock needs to be considered as well but stock on a shelf is not cash and never will be so if adding that in be careful and always take a conservative position.

I remember years ago learning that stock on a shelf is worthless irrespective of what you paid for it if you could not sell it. If you are in the food industry you see your stock become worthless before your eyes over a very short period. Businesses need to take heed of that fact and apply a similar philosophy. If you cant sell stock for whatever reason, for example wrong colour, style, or type as against your normal selling time, then forget about the margin just sell it at cost. That way you will improve your working capital position and remove from your stock those obsolete and otherwise impossible to sell items.

Your creditors are your cash lifeline so treat them with respect. Honour their trading terms. Be a regular on time payer not one who needs to be constantly reminded you are overdue again. Do that and on that odd occasion you are waiting for that large debtor to pay who is a little late just pick up the phone and call your creditor and say I am going to be a few days late. Confirm it in writing. You will be surprised of the support you will receive if you can develop that trusting relationship with your creditors. But make sure you meet the new deadline.

On your debtors dont put your head in the sand. Be constantly vigilant about your trading terms as well. Dont be afraid to call your debtors and say when can I expect payment. Have your reminder letters prepared and send them out as soon as your trading terms have not been met.

Dont focus on your large debtors as your lifeline and ignore your smaller debtors.

Yes the larger debtors are the ones that replenish your shelves and give you the bulk of your profit but its the smaller ones that will really give you that extra profit providing they pay on time. Dont let them think I am just a small debtor. They wont mind if I am late or worse still dont pay at all.

Good luck its tough but be vigilant, honour your own obligations and those with whom you do business will do the same to you.

This year sees a new workshop at the upcoming Eumundis Australian Body Art Carnivale (12 and 13 May) titled All Dolled Up, and organisers are seeking a crucial component dolls!

The All Dolled Up workshops will encourage kids to get hands-on and paint bodies, albeit tiny ones. Dolls will serve as the models to be painted, decorated and enhanced, and adults as well as kids will be welcome to take part.

Workshop organisers Kait Manchip and Viv Eardley have been scouring opp shops and garage sales to collect a stockpile of dolls to decorate, but are in need of more.

Thank heavens election day passed last Saturday. No more cheap and nasty brochures stuffed in the letterbox, candidate promo signs sprouting up on every street corner, pollies grab-bag of blather and up yours! advertisements on the TV. Ive had this kind of election campaign, where personal vendettas and one-up-manship (or up-womanship) are rife.

They are such an un-beautiful lot, our Qld pollies quite a few could do with a makeover to look more attractive, and for heavens sake, a better photographer to take their election poster portraits. Not that they need any more celebrity status, but some of the photos of candidates were seriously awful!

As for the appeal of their policies, I despair of ever having the fundamental platforms clearly explained by the leaders of each party without election rhetoric clouding every issue. Will there

really be a major effort towards sustainable regional Queensland, or is that just puffing in the wind?

I havent heard a word about my particular area of concern arts, culture and heritage but we all know sport reigns supreme in Australia. You might find it surprising that more people go to cultural events in some form or practice some kind of cultural activity than play sport. Cultural activities include us enjoying our visits to community, regional and state museums, art galleries, libraries, and going to concerts, theatre and movies. As well there are all the cultural activities, such as reading and writing, participating in some form of visual or performing arts, craftwork or invention, that we do ourselves (more or less expertly). Each of us has our own cultural identity, it is a fundamentally important part of our well-being at all stages of life. Yet our politicians dont seem to be aware of this.

We are continuing our investigation into a number of break-and-enters that have occurred around the Eumundi and Doonan areas over the past six weeks. The latest of these occurred at a residence on Bonavista Dr Doonan where the offenders gained entry by removing a closed window and climbing through. Jewellery, a laptop, iPod and other items were taken. We are very interested in hearing from anyone with information that may assist us in arresting the offenders.

In the lead-up to Easter we will be stepping up our traffic enforcement, particularly targeting speeding and drink driving. The wet weather of late has contributed to a number of traffic accidents in our division and, sadly, the latest has resulted in the death of one of our residents. The collision between two vehicles occurred on Memorial Dr and the circumstances are

still being investigated by the Forensic Crash Unit. It is timely to remind motorists to drive to the conditions, especially on wet roads. We are adopting a no tolerance on speeding and drink driving over the next month in an attempt to make our roads safer during this busy time.

We are also constantly receiving complaints about motorists parking in drop off and bus zones outside the Eumundi State School. The ignorance on the part of some motorists creates a potentially dangerous situation for our children. There have been regular incidents where school buses have been unable to stop in their designated area to pick up the children. We will be closely monitoring this over the last week of the term and the start of the new term until the situation improves, and we will be fining people for doing the wrong thing.

The once famous Eumundi Lager could rise again.Having secured both state and

federal licences to brew German-style, non-preservative beers such as the long-lamented Eumundi Lager, Gerry next needed to work through the local planning requirements.

I contacted councils local business support program staff who helped me with getting the approval for the brewery. Council staff got it through quickly and efficiently. They did a fantastic job, Gerry said.

This will see Eumundi Lager resurrected as one of the Coasts favourite tipples for locals and tourists.

Gerry said that the beer would be made to German purity laws from malt from Darling Downs barley, not sugar cane as many breweries do.

Gerry said Eumundi Winery would continue its grape and sugar cane alcohol production

but we will eventually specialise in fermenting beer.

The new brewery will be called Mundi Hill Brewery, memorialising the name of local Aboriginal warrior Huon Mundy, Gerry said.

Katie Rose Hospice at Doonan has entered a new era with the appointment of Gary Cox as the new nursing director. Gary is a worthy successor to Terry Clarke-Burrows, who was the founding nursing director of the hospice and retired late last year.

As someone who lives at the northern end of Memorial Dr, I would like to congratulate the council on their re-vamping and beautification of the junction of Memorial Dr and Caplick Way. Walking to the village or to the markets is now not fraught with the dangers that were there before.

No longer do you have to stand on the edge of the road outside the former real estate office looking for a break in the traffic coming from three different directions at great speed. There was no kerbing or guttering on the north side of Caplick Way and it was a race to get to the safety of either side of the road.

The area where you had to stand and wait to cross (north side) was once the driveway to a garage and sloped quite steeply and dangerously. On one occasion my daughter-in-law lost control on this slope and her double pram, with twin boys on board, ended up tipping over completely with lots of screams and tears. Fortunately there was no serious harm done but they did not try and negotiate that corner again unless the boys were out of the pram.

To those who felt Council should have built a roundabout at that

spot I would just say I am also a driver and I feel that when driving through villages such as Eumundi and Yandina, we should defer to the pedestrian and not to someone driving with all the protection that a motor vehicle affords. I understand measurements were taken at the intersection prior to the work being done, and traffic was going through the intersection at around 60kph, far too fast for safety and making it extremely hard for pedestrians to cross the road.

Slowing the traffic down to 20kph is essential, especially as the majority of cars proceeding south along Memorial Dr are doing 20-30kph over the regulated 50kph anyway.

To have a safety island in the centre of the road makes a pedestrian feel much safer especially the older person and mothers with children.

Finally, slowing down to 20kph has not made for a noisy intersection. I have sat at Food@Eumundi on several occasions and it is less noisy than it used to be before the changes were made and there is no longer the squealing of tyres as motorists took the corners at speed.

Dingo problemsI am trying to discover if any

other people in the Eerwah Vale area are having a problem with dingoes as we are in Wilsons Lane.

The dingoes are becoming more bold and venturing right up to house yards and neighbours have had pets attacked as well as losing livestock. I have contacted Peter Bell from the Council who is interested in meeting with other residents in the Mt Eerwah vicinity who have seen dogs and or who have lost animals recently.

Support for jobs and RV facility in Eumundi

Council is by far the largest employer on the Sunshine Coast with such a diversity of professions and skills. Getting experience with a first job is the hardest thing for a graduate, so a graduate traineeship program would allow short term contracts being offered along with a mentoring program.

It would also have the added advantage of getting fresh thinking and ideas into the ageing Council workforce.

Another area Council can immediately act on is to make it easier for local businesses to get access to the $220 million it spends each year on goods and services. In talking to business they find the process of tendering complex and bureaucratic with many of the tenders too large for local small business. The process of tendering needs to be simplified, with tenders broken down so that local business can compete. A sizeable weighting should be given to locals. This should also be the case for consultancies which often go to large national and international companies.

Tourism is worth $1.8 billion a year to the region however it is a very competitive market and we need to make sure we have the best facilities and services to continue to attract them.

Studies show that the grey nomads spend on average about $90 each a day and I will look at how local facilities in Eumundi and Yandina can be provided to dump their waste from their RVs and pick up water. I will work with the local community to find locations where they can stay.

Kellie and Gavin Hamburger are realising their dream to bring their rich, global experiences in music to the next generation of musicians. In issue 114 of Eumundi Green, they outlined their plans to build a home-based recording studio and renovate their Doonan home for their young family, son Marshall and twin daughters Dixie and Rose. Those plans are now coming to fruition. Kellie (a percussionist, vocalist and Tafelmusik teacher) and Gavin (a composer specialising in soundtracks, including for Bollywood movies, and performer in an impressively wide range of instruments from around the planet) are offering what they believe is a very different approach to learning music than traditional methods. Gavin, who teaches music in the education system, says that often children want to learn music but they are unsure which instruments they want to play.

Take a bow, EumundiLast Friday on parade was a proud day for our school, our students and sta and for me as Principal. Firstly there were merit awards aplenty, there was a regional swimming record recipient, this year's Thursday guitar group playing at their rst public performance, our choir leading the singing, students dressed for their medieval celebration and awards for individual and class achievement in fundraising through our spellathon. The most exciting aspect of the spellathon was the number of children who learnt all their words through practice with their families and teachers. And then the news that $16,000 had been raised by the children through sponsorship for the spellathon an extraordinary achievement that has allowed for an inter-active smart board to be purchased for use by each class. COMING UP Saturday 7 April Easter Treasure HuntFamily fun at the markets A couple of months ago the Original Eumundi Markets

(OEM) board announced that it is introducing systems to formalise the selection of stallholders. The aim is to continue attracting artisans, makers and other stallholders to OEM that have the most creative, unusual and highest quality products.

Over 100 stallholders attended meetings in January and February this year to discuss what it is that makes the Original Eumundi Markets unique, and what can be done to hang onto this specialness. Since then, with the help of stallholders, work has been proceeding on the drafting of a new stallholder application process with a view to implementing changes in 2012. Workshops with stallholders have looked at how OEM could define originality and quality and the importance of mandating

stallholder made products and services. The new processes in development will make OEM entry processes more transparent and will support the sustainability of the markets.

The Original Eumundi Markets is now a unique iconic event that has played a strong part in the recent history of Eumundi and the surrounding district. The Eumundi markets were established in 1979 on community owned land with the aim of supporting local artist and makers with the motto we make it, bake it, sew it, grow it. This recent work of the board and staff confirms that communal spirit and dedicated stallholders are still well and truly the essence of the Original Eumundi Markets. The new magazine Original showcases the world-class products of the Original Eumundi Markets and aims to capture the essence and culture of the markets.

Arts Scene

In the very early years of the last century Maroochydore was the base for one Jackie Moskin. Jackie was the picture show man for the Sunshine Coast and surrounds as far as Gympie.

He had a Ford van to transport his projector and all the equipment needed to screen the latest silent movies. One of his regular ports of call was the Eumundi School of Arts Hall, which was always a major problem because at that time the hall was a two-storey building (see photo). This meant that Jackie had to jack up his rear-axle to attach a belt to drive the generator, so that he could operate his projector from the verandah.

Excerpts from many of the films screened by Jackie will be included in the first half of The Picture Show Man weekend, being staged in April as an Indee Century Special to mark the halls centenary.

Film historian, Kev Franzi, will host the first half of the program with an amazing coverage of films and projectors from the very early 1900s. Kev has laid out a fantastic program that will absorb and entertain.

The second half of the show will be a screening of the iconic Australian film The Picture Show Man which traces the era up until about 1927 when the talkies arrived. The Picture Show Man is being screened through the

Eumundi Timber Challenge

The Eumundi Timber Challenge second year event last Sunday was a great success. Croquet and boules had to be cancelled due to soggy grounds but competitors were able to play tennis all day and childrens entertainment was non-stop.

The Don Napier Trophy was won by Tewantins Mick Curong and Judy Griffith. Winner of the ladies singles was Sam Clark (nee Napier) who teamed up with her brother Michael to be runners up for the Don Napier Trophy. Chris Etheridge won the mens singles. Argi Mathus won the best dress. Bob Gammage was on hand to paint the story and Jodie to paint the children. Joes Waterhole won the pubs Dick Caplick Trophy. Ingredients500g carrots, peeled and chopped30ml olive oil2 tsp ground cumin2 garlic cloves, crushedSalt and freshly ground black pepper

MethodCook the carrots in a large

saucepan of salted boiling water until tender and drain.

Process the carrot, oil, cumin and garlic in a food processor until smooth.

Season to taste.

Ingredients500g beetroot, peeled and cut into 2cm chunks1 x 420g can chickpeas, rinsed, drained60ml olive oil2 tblsp tahini2 garlic cloves, crushed1 tblsp ground cumin Salt and freshly ground black pepper

MethodPreheat oven to 220C.Wrap beetroot chunks in foil

and roast until they can be pierced easily with a skewer, about 45 minutes, then cool and unwrap.

Process beetroot and chick peas in a food processor until combined.

Gf you are entertaining the family or a crowd at Easter, these mezze dips will add colour and flavour to your table. Add mezze regulars hummus, Turkish pide or flatbreads, and baba ganoush, from Issue 140. To turn a mezze platter into a meal, serve with spicy chicken skewers, or lamb kofta or sausages, or grilled haloumi cheese and salads. The dips can be made a day ahead and travel easily to a get-together.

If you dont have a food processor you can make the dips by putting the ingredients in a large bowl and mashing with a wooden spoon when the food processor is specified. This will make a chunkier dip.

Mezze is a feature of cuisines from across the former Ottoman empire, coming from the Turkish meze meaning snack, taste, flavour. Turkish mezze may consist of soft white cheese, sliced melon, calamari, artichokes, dolma and kofta. In a Greek mezze you may typically find grilled octopus, salads, olives, taramosalata and cheeses.

Christophe Honnereal has been a chef at Berkelouws Caf for two years. His French training and culture have brought a very welcome touch of Paris to Eumundi. Christophe has been in Australia for many years and once operated his own French restaurant in Brisbane.

Owner Dorothy Chote says it is a great benefit to have chefs with such different cuisine backgrounds, They complement each other and it makes for varied, vibrant specials boards.


In the SpotlightRight at home amongst the wildlife of Eumundi Matt Popplewell

The lack of opportunities for women in England and a better climate in Australia peeled Chris Hartley from her home in Oxford, England across to Sydney in 1963. She has never looked back and now after much travel and many exciting adventures, she is very settled in her delightful rural home in the heart of Eumundis Tall Gums.

It was a chance find in 1998 whilst on vacation in Noosa that the Hartleys stumbled across the four and a half acres of garden. It was love at first sight and they bought the property there and then. Following a closing year in Sydney, the Hartleys retired to their new abode and set about transforming the property and garden.

Chris has a great love for native gardening and the property is elegant proof of that. She quickly joined the Land for Wildlife scheme and set about revegetating a lot of their lawns with native plants. This continues today and is very much work in progress. Chris says she is indebted to the knowledge and advice of neighbours Mel and Helen Hepburn who have not only

helped with the garden but were a tower of strength with the loss of her husband three years ago.

Chriss love of wildlife has extended well beyond the gardens for her arrival in the area also drew her to assist at the RSPCA. For the last seven years Chris has assisted Gill and Col Brownhill at the Eumundi Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre a few days

a week. Initially she assisted in bringing animals to the centre from the vet and now her roles extend to helping out with many aspects of the running of the centre. The recent surge in support for the centre has delighted Chris who is passionately committed to seeing the centre established on a steady course for the future.

Ms Mazoudier.Jen Mazoudier believes that the

Sunshine Coast Council should join with the Scenic Rim Council in seeking regulatory protection by the State Government to ensure that coal mining and coal seam gas extraction activities are not permitted on the Sunshine Coast. This protection would provide the community with certainty that its current lifestyle, environment and economy will not be jeopardised by incompatible mining and petroleum activities.

If elected I will move that the Sunshine Coast Council demand the State Government ban mining for coal and coal seam gas in the region. We are a tourist, agricultural and lifestyle area and it doesnt fit with us, she said.

My policies have been outlined on my website since day one. I would rather show what I stand for with actual policy, than spruik visionary statements, declared Ms Mazoudier.

An open garden at the Maleny Botanic Garden (233 Maleny-Stanley River Road, Maleny) in support of Katie Rose Cottage, is being held on Sunday 22 April from 9am to 4:30pm. Entry is Adults $10, pensioners $8 and children are free.

Attractions include 12 acres containing vibrant flowering gardens interspersed with stands of mature trees, numerous water features and open stretches of lawn, all connected by easily accessible paths. Colin Campbell from the Courier Mails Whats On will give a half hour talk at 11am and again at 1:30pm. There is ample parking available on the property, including bus and disabled parking.

Jen Mazoudier, local government candidate for division 9, has called for a complete ban on coal seam gas (CSG) extraction and coal mining in the Sunshine Coast Council area.

Our agricultural lands and water resources need to be protected for our long term agricultural production and not allowed to be degraded for short term profits for mining companies, said Jen Mazoudier.

I participated in the first protests against damming the Mary River at Traveston Crossing and know that people power can turn things around, she said. However, we are now unfortunately seeing a similar scenario emerging with the blind support for CSG and the ignoring of expert advice, she said.

I dont want that same scenario to manifest itself and divide communities while risking our food and water security, said

Shambles at Montville will open Easter Saturday 7, Easter Sunday 8 and Easter Monday 9 April. Hosts at Shambles at 85 Western Rd, Montville are Kyleigh and Dr Michael Simpson who have developed the garden over 20 years. The garden has some significant collections such as heritage roses and camellias. When we came to Montville to live we knew we would stay here forever. The story of the garden is one of decay and renewal written in a large range of ornamental shrubs, trees, perennials, bulbs and vines.

A kangaroo is a marsupial from the family Macropodidae (macropods, meaning large foot). Kangaroos have chambered stomachs similar to those of cattle. They regurgitate the vegetation they have eaten, chew it as cud, and then swallow it again for final digestion. Different kangaroos have different diets, although all are herbivores. The eastern grey kangaroo is predominantly a grazer eating a variety of grasses whereas some other species such as the red kangaroo include significant amounts of shrubs in the diet. Nursing a roo back to health and releasing it to the wild is always a special moment for us at the centre.

By late January to March the birds are heading north across the Torres Strait to New Guinea and Indonesia. Usually young cuckoos have no contact with their real parents and find their own migratory way. We read somewhere that Channel-bills are the only cuckoo species where the true parents come along when the hard work of rearing is done and pick up their offspring to teach them the cuckoo ways on the flight north. It seemed like a cute but unlikely story. However Mal and Helen Hepburn, keen observers of nature witnessed exactly that behaviour when a pair came during the night and collected their own fledged chick from a pair of Torresian Crows which had fostered it.

Did we feel sorry for our pair of currawongs turning themselves inside-out to feed the ravenous fledgling? Not a bit. Even with birds.what goes round, comes round!

We have previously told how a demented and narcissistic Pied Currawong has been waking us up for many months by banging against our windows at first light, returning within minutes of being shooed away. It also pecks at and twists the car side mirrors which we now have to cover with bags. And of course it leaves birdpoo all over the car, windowsills and pavement.

Together with its mate, this bird also attacks most other birds on the property and has chased away some of the smaller honeyeaters. Now the pair have reaped their reward for their aggravating behaviour.

Fledgling magpies and more so Black Cockatoos have a loud cry when begging to be fed by their parents but the cry we heard a few days ago was louder than any we had heard before. Evidently a Channel-billed Cuckoo had laid its egg in the Currawongs nest and the unwitting pair had brooded and raised the chick which, in the manner of cuckoos, had probably thrown the currawongs own eggs or chicks out of the nest. The incessant wailing call was from a fledgling Channel-billed Cuckoo driving its foster parents crazy with its strident calling for food. The young bird was bigger than the currawongs by about half as much again and we watched as the adults worked as a driven tag-team to bring a constant supply of food. These cuckoos and currawongs have pretty much the same diets: fruits, berries, insects, especially stick insects, as well as eggs and even chicks of other birds.

Channel-billed Cuckoos (Scythrops novaehollandiae) are the largest parasitising cuckoo in the world and are obviously named for their large, curved bills up to 70mm long although Scythrops comes from Greek for angry face or eye and they do have big, red-

Here are a couple of handy Windows 7 tips you probably dont know about, but might find useful. If you run multiple programs simultaneously, your desktop can get extremely cluttered. If youre working on one program and want to minimise all the other windows, you can in a single step. Click and hold the title bar of the window you want to keep on the desktop; while still holding the title bar, shake it quickly back and forth until all of the other windows minimise to the taskbar. Then let go. To make them return, shake the title bar again.

To select multiple files for copying, moving or deleting in Windows Explorer, you generally

use the keyboard and the mouse, Ctrl-clicking every file you want to select. But theres a way to select multiple files in Windows 7 using only your mouse, via check boxes. To do it: In Windows Explorer, click Organise, and then select Folder and search options. Click the View tab. In Advanced Settings, check the box next to Use check boxes to select items. Click OK.

From now on, when you hover your mouse over a file in Windows Explorer, a check box will appear next to it; click it to select the file.

Eumundi Green around the world

I thought it might be beneficial to wellbeing to share a memorable trip back to part of my life before coming to reside in Eumundi 31 years ago. An invitation to a 1967 to 1970 reunion at my high school, Manly Girls High, reached me in a modern fashion.

A schoolmate, Carol-Ann Harrison, found me through the website for Eumundi Markets, where I am a stallholder. I nervously accepted her invitation to return to my beginnings with our son Jackson and friend Elle.

We spent the first night in Elles familys 100 year old terraced house in Fairlight, Manly, before continuing to North Narrabeen to stay with Carol-Ann. I was overwhelmed driving through the

northern beaches with Jackson and Elle to arrive at her home, which sits like an eagles nest with panoramic views of the coast.

I spent the 40th School Reunion with my friends of the heart everyone looked the same to me! We cried for joy, laughed, shared memories and photos, dined on fine food and shared our about me stories into the early hours.

I connected with friends who Id only dreamed of, including Karen Ferrier (nee Barnwell) who is a friend of my Eumundi neighbor Patricia Chapman what a small world!

I returned home after a week via the 100 year old terraced home with a great personal sense of being and belonging.
