OUR PORTFOLIO

With 7 million people dying each year from air pollution and governments moving to ban fossil fuels, slash emissions and incentivize renewables - ultra-reliable, weather-independent fuel cells, invented in 1869 and used by NASA, win a fresh breath of life. Reinventing the hydrogen-based fuel cell with a revolutionary non-platinum catalyst and other patented innovations that shrink CapEx and OpEx to a fraction of their traditional levels, GenCell develops optimally efficient alkaline fuel cell products for a wide addressable market. Over five years, GenCell’s products have been installed in 18 countries in severe weather conditions, with 99.6% successful launches in the field.

5kW ultra-reliable continuous backup power kicks in instantly with extended runtime of hours and days and capacity to handle short dynamic loads of up to 100 kVA.

Our proven G5 solution has been redesigned for outdoors deployment with weather-resistant enclosure and compact footprint.

Extends the duration of auxiliary DC systems (ADS) at power utility substations. Delivered with seismic-certified protective enclosure.

Our fuel cell is paired with a patented ammonia cracker that enables the unit

to run completely off-grid by extracting hydrogen fuel from liquid ammonia, powering telecom towers and rural electrification.

The development of a patented ammonia cracker enables GenCell to launch its A5 off-grid power solution. Targeting 1.2M off-grid telecom towers, GenCell calculates that using the A5 at 1,000 sites for 10 years would reduce the TCO for these telecom base stations by tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.

OUR TARGET MARKETSUTILITIES MARKET: HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS EXTEND POWER UTILITIES’ SUBSTATION RELIABILITYFaced with the crucial job of keeping the lights on, refrigerators cold and life-support machines running for millions of customers, utilities do not take their core job of resilient power generation lightly. On top of the aging energy grid and the growing demand for power, the Corona pandemic is further disrupting every aspect of life and especially the power sector. The huge influx of renewable generation sources and the move towards distributed energy models and demand response are pressuring utilities to adapt to new business models and processes. At the same time, the long-term impact of climate change causes ever more and more frequent severe weather incidents that only exacerbate the situation, making utilities increasingly vulnerable to power outages. In these conditions it is no easy task for utilities to optimally operate substations and maintain reliable grid services for customers.

As hydrogen gains traction as the fuel for decarbonization of different industry sectors, utilities are leveraging hydrogen and fuel cells to provide emission-free long-duration auxiliary DC power for substations. During outages, fuel cells can provide uninterrupted power to keep breakers and critical controls in an operational mode for as long as fuel is available, limiting expensive damage to equipment and enabling the utility to restore grid power significantly faster.

While providing utilities with an innovative and advantageous auxiliary DC backup solution enhances grid modernization, fuel cells can also open up additional revenue streams for utilities behind the meter and most important, contribute zero-emission clean energy storage and generation.

COMMERCE & INDUSTRY:CLEAN POWER FOR BUSINESS CONTINUITYWith today’s deep understanding of the impact of the industrial revolution and fossil fuels on our environment, global companies are in fact improving profitability by taking action to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints. At the same time, when climate change is making power outages an increasing part of our reality, commercial and industrial entities must assume responsibility and take proactive steps to access clean, reliable backup power to prevent downtime and ensure continuous operations. During inclement weather, adopting reliable, long-duration backup power enables businesses to function independently from the grid and mitigate the impacts of a blackout. As a result, reliable backup power is fast becoming essential to the development of corporate emergency preparedness programs.

Meanwhile, round-the-clock synchronization of logistics operations, staffing, equipment, computer hardware and software systems depend on a reliable flow of power; as UPS devices which protect software and data integrity have short lifetimes, fuel cells can supplement or replace batteries to extend power for as long as hydrogen fuel is available. Replacing fossil fuel generators, zero-emission fuel cells not only protect equipment and schedules from the risk of genset failure, but also safeguard the environment against climate crisis.

TELECOM MARKET:SUPPLYING MOBILE OPERATORS WITH 24/7 RELIABLE GREEN POWER

Even moreso today under the threat of Coronavirus than ever before, people everywhere are acutely dependent on reliable communications as their main lifeline. As telecom providers must keep networks operational no matter what, power comprises one of the most crucial requirements and a main operating expense. With the introduction of 5G, this financial and environmental burden is expected to double.

Whether seeking alternative energy solutions for primary off-grid power or backup power for regions where grid services are poor, or needing to backup dense urban network traffic, now more than ever telecom providers and towercos can turn to GenCell for clean, reliable and cost-efficient power solutions.

FIRST-RESPONDERS & HOMELAND SECURITY: CLEAN POWER FOR PUBLIC SAFETYWhen our world faces ever more frequent and severe weather incidents that bring new and unprecedented threats, first-responders and emergency teams are our first line of defense. Uninterrupted power is key to mission-critical public operations and to maintaining civil and military services, especially in emergencies.

Reliable off-grid and backup power ensure the operation of emergency control rooms, communications security and CCTV systems and life-saving safety equipment. Providing backup power systems for shelters facilitates disaster recovery operations and preserves order during civil and natural disasters. For fire and police stations, hospitals and a wide range of public and governmental agencies and institutions, secure instant access to an independent energy source during power outages or natural disasters is critical for first responders tasked with providing life-saving essential services, maintaining public order and quality of life.

GenCell Energy (GNCL: TASE) develops fuel cell solutions that offer affordable, clean power for humanity, enabling businesses to #Say No to Diesel and render diesel generators obsolete. Using ultra-reliable fuel cell technology that powers spacecraft, we deliver backup power for utilities, homeland security, healthcare and automated industries. Our revolutionary process to create hydrogen-on-demand from anhydrous ammonia (NH3) enables our fuel cell solutions to also provide primary power for off-grid and poor-grid sites, as well as rural electrification.

We develop and are moving to mass production of commercially viable and affordable clean alkaline fuel cells, focusing on overcoming the two main barriers preventing the mainstream acceptance of fuel cell technology – CapEx & OpEx – and scaling up our disruptive ammonia-to-energy technology. In 2020 GenCell completed its first IPO on the Israeli stock exchange, with strategic investments by Paz Oil and by Japanese conglomerate TDK.

Employing a team of more than 80 professionals including space and submarine experts, GenCell is headquartered in Israel with a worldwide distribution and support network and retains unique intellectual property that includes patents, trade secrets and know-how.

• With its exceptional availability, transportability, chemical compatibility and economy (priced less than diesel fuel) ammonia stars in GenCell's vision for a clean energy future.

• Going forward, GenCell aims to replace the highly pollutant Haber-Bosch process for manufacturing industrial ammonia with an eco-friendly process to synthesize green ammonia at a price less than diesel, aiming to achieve grid parity.
