1) Introduction

In the beginning of 2014 the world of enduro has just got even more exciting! On the 19th of April 2014 the European Enduro Series powered by XS Power Drinks started. Europes fastest racers lined up to battle it out over the dust and rock of the legendary Italian location, hoping to start a journey that will lead them to the top of the series podium. Since then the new series provides an important stepping stone between national enduro events and the Enduro World Series, and bring a new focus to racing on the continent.

Organised by the German company Racement and the Austrian company Trail Solutions, the six round series was traveling to some of the most famous riding destinations in continental Europe. Legendary locations such as Punta Ala, Flims, Kronplatz, Reschenpass, Maribor and Treuchtlingen.

The European Enduro Series is for racers who want to compete at a high level, in a well-organized race series, but without the expense of travelling around the world. So there is a Pro-Men and Pro-Women and the Masters category. We offer an Amateur Men and Women class as well. The main goals of the series: We want to attract the enduro racing weekend warriors, becoming a greenhouse for growing and developing new enduro talents.

Furthermore we want to not only present the best trails and riding spots, but also to maintain a unique personality and familiar feeling throughout the series. That means that from the moment of registration, right through to the award ceremony, the organisation will be similar at every venue. Riders will find the same rules, the same timetable, the same chrono-system and the same friendly team at every round of the circuit.

European Enduro Series # 4: 3-LNDER-ENDURO Rennen, 23. und 24. August

Ende August trifft sich die europische Enduroszene zum vierten Stopp der European Enduro Series in Nauders/Tirol und die gesamte Region rund um den Reschenpass steht ganz im Zeichen des Mountainbike Enduro Sports. Bei diesem Bewerb kommen alle MTB Singltrail Fans voll auf ihre Kosten. Rund 200 Enduro-Piloten aus zwlf Nationen haben sich bereits zu diesem Spektakel angemeldet. Eine Anmeldung ist noch bis Samstag, 14:00 Uhr mglich.

Wenn die Trails frisch und natrlich vor einem liegen und das freudige Hochgefhl selbst in anstrengenden Tretpassagen nicht nachlsst, dann haben sich zwei gefunden, die perfekt zusammenpassen Trail und Biker. Vom Erlebniswert eine der schnsten Strecken heuer! Enduro, so wie es sein muss! mit diesen Worten fasst der Freeride Redakteur Christian Schleker seine Teilnahme am 3-Lnder-Enduro Rennen 2013 zusammen.

Die Gegend im Dreilndereck zwischen sterreich, Italien und der Schweiz bietet tatschlich alles was ein perfektes Enduro-Rennen ausmacht: Naturbelassene Trails, sehr schn und abwechslungsreich, dabei aber nicht zu steil oder abschssig und dennoch anspruchsvoll. Zwischendurch immer wieder der Blick auf den malerischen Reschensee rundet das phantastische Ambiente ab.

Um maximale Trailausbeute zu garantieren, werden zur Freude der Teilnehmer auch dieses Jahr wieder vier Aufstiegshilfen in die Runde integriert: die Schneben-, die Bergkastel-, die Haideralm- und die Mutzkopfbahn. Somit mssen die Enduristen insgesamt nur rund 500 Hhenmeter bergauf pedalieren und knnen sich aber ber rund 3.500 Hhenmeter bergab freuen!

Zwei Tage Trails, Trails Trails Nach Abholung der Startnummern am Freitag, dem 22. August, im Rennbro direkt unter dem Schloss in Nauders, hat man am Samstag den ganzen Tag Zeit, sich den Rundkurs anzusehen. Beim XS Power Ride Prolog am Samstag um 17:00 Uhr am Burggelnde in Nauders wird es dann zum ersten Mal ernst, wenn die erste Sonderprfung absolviert werden muss. Am Sonntag, dem 24. August, heit es dann ab 08:30 Uhr Start frei und die Teilnehmer knnen sich auf einen abwechslungsreichen, spannenden und spaigen Bike-Tag freuen. Start und Ziel ist auf der Schlosswiese in Nauders, wo im Anschluss auch die Gewinner gekrt werden.

The world of enduro has just got even more exciting! Registration has now opened for the landmark first round of the new European Enduro Series, and once again the seaside resort of Punta Ala will mark an important turning point for enduro racing. On the 19th of April 2014, Europes fastest racers will line up to battle it out over the dust and rock of the legendary Italian location, hoping to start a journey that will lead them to the top of the series podium. The new series will provide an important stepping stone between national enduro events and the Enduro World Series, and bring a new focus to racing on the continent. Organised by the German company Racement, famous for their iXS Downhill Cups, the six round series will travel to some of the most famous riding destinations in continental Europe. Featuring rounds in legendary locations such as Flims, Kronplatz, Reschenpass, Maribor and Treuchtlingen, all eyes will be on the exciting first round in Punta Ala to see who is chasing the series title.

Georgy Grogger is the Technical Delegate for the new European Enduro Series as well as the Specialized SRAM Enduro Series, and he took some time out to talk to us about what to expect from round 1 in Punta Ala.

What can participants expect from the opening round in Punta Ala?

You mean beside warm weather, a beautiful beach and tons of red wine? Well: Punta Ala is simply wonderful; after the crew of i-mtb showed me some of the best trails I had ever ridden, I knew it had to be included in the series. We have set up the course with an all-in-approach; there will be hard and technical parts, smoother sections with loads of flow and some sneaky uphill pedal sections. It will be a tough race and will meet the high continental standard we are looking for. The race will have 4 challenging stages - and all I can say about the trails is that participants will meet some old enemies and also find new friends.

Where would be the best place to stay?

The best place to stay for the race is the PuntAla camping resort. Its the beating heart of the Bandite Trail Area where the race will take place.

European Enduro Series #3: Plan de Corones in Alto Adige Dopo ledizione di successo del 2013, il livello pi alto risulta la logica conseguenza per la corsa Enduro di questanno, che si terr naturalmente al Plan de Corones. Il 25 e 26 luglio, lEnduro Elite europea d appuntamento per la terza edizione dello European Enduro Series, quale tappa fa anche parte del Triveneto Enduro MTB Cup. Linfrastruttura perfetta, i trail sono travolgenti e il trasporto in quota perfettamente operativo: il territorio che comprende il massiccio del Plan de Corones offre gli ingredienti giusti per affrontare una delle gare Enduro di livello europeo. E, se i partecipanti sono anche allietati da un panorama di straordinaria bellezza, il pacchetto bike si completa in modo davvero ideale. Lultimo fine settimana di luglio, sono attesi 300 appassionati di Enduro di provenienza internazionale che raggiungeranno il Plan de Corones, nei pressi di Brunico. Anche questanno, si devono affrontare cinque prove speciali, di cui la parte uphill di 800 metri sar sensibilmente ridotta rispetto alla tratta downhill. Questa sar, infatti, ampliata proprio perch si tratta di un blocco dello European Enduro Series. Grazie al contributo della cabinovia del Plan de Corones, lo spasso in salita sar triplicato. Partenza e arrivo della corsa circolare hanno luogo presso la stazione a valle di Riscone e conducono attraverso il castello di Brunico nuovamente alla cima del Plan de Corones, dove i partecipanti saranno chiamati ad affrontare lultima prova speciale al cospetto delle Dolomiti. Venerd 25 luglio, si possono ritirare i pettorali presso lufficio della gara di Riscone, direttamente alla stazione a valle dellimpianto. Con lausilio della pianta del percorso, si ha tempo tutta la giornata di sabato 25 luglio per fare un sopralluogo del percorso circolare. La quota di partecipazione include due biglietti giornalieri della cabinovia e fantastiche giornate allinsegna della bike ed emozioni indimenticabili. Il feeling agonistico si percepir sabato sera, quando sar sparato il primo via al prologo dellXS Power Ride. Un assaggio di ci che si prover domenica 27 luglio alle 8:30 per il terzo blocco dello European Enduro Series 2014.
