For the 2017 EEO-1 Survey cycle, private employers with 100 employees or more and federal contrac- tors with 50 employees or more AND $50,000 in contract(s) will be re- quired to report the same data that they reported on the EEO-1 report they used for 2016. This EEO-1 collects race, ethnicity and gender data by job category, just as the EEO-1 has done for fiſty years, and does not include the collecon of pay data. For the 2017 EEO-1 Survey cycle, the EEO-1 report will be due on March 31, 2018. The employment data used for the 2017 EEO-1 report should be se- lected from a payroll period in October, November or December, the fourth quarter of calendar year 2017. Emerging HR Professional of the Year Award

Call for Nominations The SHRM Vermont State Council is accepting nominations for its inaugural Emerging HR Professional of the Year Award. This inaugural award recognizes the outstanding achievements made by up and coming Human Resource Professionals in Vermont. We are looking for individuals who have made promising contributions to the HR profession utilizing innovative opportunities in order to help advance human resources in the Vermont community.

SHRM Vermont State Council, a non-profit organization, advances the human resources profession by promoting the strategic value of human resources; developing the skills and knowledge of our state-wide members; and facilitating the development of professional relationships throughout the state.

The selected honoree will receive the award and gift certificate at the 2017 SHRM Vermont State Human Resources Conference on Thursday, September 28th during lunch at the at the Killington Grand Resort and Hotel.

Award Criteria:

Nominees for the award must be members of a local SHRM and/or the national SHRM organization and be employed by a Vermont-based company.

Emerging professionals will have no more than 5 years of experience in the HR field.

Please describe the professional accomplishments and/or innovations of the nominee. What is the direct impact on the HR profession and their organization?

Summary:

The HR Generalist supports all Human Resources functions including employee relations, recruiting, compli-ance and benefits administration. The HR Generalist advises managers and supervisors in HR practices, and provides information and counseling to employees.

Essential Duties:

Manage Recruitment process, and oversee orientation for all new employees. Assist in Health and Safety initiatives and Training programs with Plant Manager. Develop HR solutions; collect/analyze information; recommend/implement courses of action. Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements; be aware of all relevant legislation. Manage weekly payroll and payroll reports; update employee payroll information. Standardize payroll in compliance with corporate and government regulations. Manage and administer IRA, Insurance and Workers’ compensation. Assist in disciplinary oversight with support from management. Prepare reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing data. Protect organization and employee confidential information. Special projects and other HR related duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business or relevant discipline. 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, including payroll. Ability to make decisions and solve problems in a fast environment. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build releationships. Professional communication skills, both oral and written. Well organized with good time management skills. Proficient with Microsoft office and HR software. Professional integrity and confidentiality. Human Resources Certification a plus.
