The goal of my company was to provide “organic” carrying/protective solutions in all Apple Inc. product line. So I brainstormed some key words that defined what my company was all about. After making a list of key phrases, I started typing away the phrases in both the dictionary and the thesaurus and see if anything interesting would show up. The word protection came up with the word aegis, and the definition was aegiswas exactly the message I wanted my company to convey:

Aegis phonetically [ee-jis]

2. protection; support; under the imperial aegis

The name was also easy to remember, however it could be difficult for some consumers to spell. It is thenthat I looked over and had a epiphany, why not just spell out my company name phonetically: ee-jis. The sole purpose of spelling out a word phonetically is to make it easier to pronounce, so why not have the company name itself spelled out phonetically. The name will be easy to pronounce, spell, and thusmake it a name that will be memorable.
