MAIN CHARACTER: Who or What is the story about? Reginald Von Hoobie-Doobie, a boy who knows a lot of stuff!! SETTING: Where and When does the story take place? What usually happens there? What does the character see, hear, smell, touch, and taste? A present-day town with an interesting connection to the prehistoric world. INITIATING EVENT (Kick-Off): What happened to the character to cause him/her/it to do something? (It was a ho-hum day until…) Everyone loves Edwina the dinosaur because she helps all the townspeople. INTERNAL RESPONSE (Feeling): How did the character feel about what happened? This is the emotional response to the kick-off. Reginald is angry and frustrated because dinosaurs are extinct, and no one listens! PLAN: What does the character want to do? Why will he/she/it choose this plan? What prior knowledge, thoughts and memories does the character have about the kick-off? Reginald wants to make everyone realize dinosaurs are extinct. ATTEMPT: What action does the character take to achieve the Plan? He makes presentations to his class, but they anger his classmates. ATTEMPT: He hands out flyers, but people make them into hats. ATTEMPT: He protests by holding signs, plays loud instruments, and dances, but is ignored. ATTEMPT: Edwina is willing to listen to Reginald-he shows her that dinosaurs are extinct. ATTEMPT: DIRECT CONSEQUENCE: (Tie-Up): What happened as a result of the attempts/ action? Is there a complication in the plan? Edwina doesn't care about being extinct, so Reginald decides he doesn't either! RESOLUTION: How does the character feel about the direct consequence Is there a lesson learned or a moral to the story?
