In 2010, EDUCAUSE responded to member feedback and enhanced our annual conference website to provide a robust, user‐friendly, website.

Beginning with the conference program pages, you can now filter and sort the annual conference schedule by specific topics you are interested in. Selecting a topic from the filter will provide you with a list of sessions, meetings, and special events that have been tagged as related to that topic.

These schedule items can then be added directly to your personalized itinerary builder by clicking the “Add me” button next to the corresponding item. (PLEASE NOTE: You must be logged into the EDUCAUSE web site and have created a web profile to take advantage oflogged into the EDUCAUSE web site and have created a web profile to take advantage of this functionality.)

In addition to the “Topics” sorting functionality, you can explore the annual conference program by “Type” of activity. Limit the program elements by the specific types of activities you are looking for (ex: “General Sessions”, “In the Hot Seat”, “Meeting”, “Poster Sessions”, etc.)

Then, print out or add the items you want to your schedule.

To connect conference attendees who are attending in Anaheim, we created an interactiveAffinity Finder. Participants can sort through the registered list of attendees and find colleagues who share a variety of traits with them. If you’re interested in finding some one who shares your geographic location, topical interests, same functional role, or of a specific Carnegie Class, the results are just a few clicks away.

Perhaps some of the most exciting enhancements this year take place on the session specific pages. 

Each session’s page contains tabs that offer you access to related videos or media files (if applicable), bios on the session speaker, a list of attendees who have added that session to their personal itinerary, and an interactive map of the actual site location to help you identify where the session will take place.

Also on the session page are two tabs (visible only when you’re logged in) that allow you to get involved in the discussion thread specific to that session. Comment or Tweet directly from the page. Twitter posts include the session specific tag to provide for easy monitoring.  Aggregated comments and Tweets appear below the tabs so you can directly follow the conversation.

2010 also marks some significant enhancements to our mobile program. Bookmark the mobile program site above to interact with the annual conference web pages in a format optimized for your mobile device.

Comment and Tweet on session pages from your mobile phone, while you’re taking part in the discussion, or find out more about the sessions you’re interested in.

Interactive maps with room locations for each session and conference activities are also available on your smartphone.

Finally, signs outside of each session room will contain QR codes. Download any one of a variety of QR code reading apps to your smartphone and scan the sign as you enter the session. The QR codes will help you quickly identify the session and provide you with more information.
