We are a DGR School all donations are tax deductible. Canteen Program The C2 students have begun a canteen program each Tuesday morning. After purchasing their recess item they join their primary school friends to eat before running off to play together in the playgrounds. This is not only a great way for our students to practise their money skills but also an opportunity to develop socially and communicatively. Marcus and Ronin always use lovely manners when making their selections and paying their money. Preparing for the NDIS - Free Workshops Senses Australia is offering free workshops for parents to help them prepare for the NDIS. Sessions will cover general NDIS information, eligibility and registration requirements as well as the NDIS planning/goal setting processes and how to prepare for your NDIS planning meeting. Music Program We are very fortunate to be able to run a Specialist Music program again this year. All of our classes love their sessions with Mrs Liddicoat and staff are always amazed at what the children are learning.

Here the students are learning to follow a conductor, imitate the hand signals associated with sounds and copy beats on a variety of un-tuned instruments.

There are also lots of songs to act out.

Jake leads off with the first balancing elephant. Mason prepares to give Humpty Dumpty his ‘big fall’.

Michael concentrates hard to follow

the notation to play

Twinkle Twinkle on

the tuned bells.

Ned and Preston twirl their scarves to the music.

I.E.P Meetings It has been very pleasing to see so many parents take the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher over the last couple of weeks. These meetings (many of them also attended by therapists) have proved very productive in establishing goals and shared planning. If you have not yet made an appointment, please consider doing so as soon as possible.

Coles Sports for Schools Program Don’t forget that we are collecting the Coles Sports for Schools vouchers. If you are shopping at Coles, please collect the vouchers and return to school. (There is a collection box in the front office and one outside C1). Vouchers can be collected from the 7th February till the 3rd April. Don’t forget to ask your friends and neighbours to help - as a small school, we need extra help! Cooper adds to the collection. Healthy Cooking Most of our classes do cooking at some stage over the term. These sessions are always good opportunities to develop independence and communication skills. Much of the time they also link directly to curriculum themes.

Room 5 are learning about mini-beasts this term. How impressive are the butterfly open sandwiches that Blake and Seb made? Room 1 have been doing the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Each student made a circle sandwich to add to the class caterpillar sandwich. Victoria concentrates on her buttering.

The finished sandwich…… ……tasted as good as it looked!
