Dear friends, As I’m typing this message, the last days of summer are almost gone. Where did it go? Every year it feels like the days are going by faster and faster and before you can blink, the next season is upon us. It used to be that I could accomplish everything I wanted within a week and then have some time for fun things. But the older we get, it seems that we are able to accomplish much less in the given amount of time. Before you know it the week is over and there is a pile of papers, emails, unanswered calls (and what not) that we didn’t get to. So I always look forward to a somewhat slower schedule during the summer season so the pile on my desk gets smaller and things nally get done. I hope you all had a good and relaxing summer and are ready to tackle new challenges during the rest of 2013. On January 19 2005 Acting Governor Codey signed new leg-islation amending the continuing education requirements for Regis-tered Dental Hygienists (RDH) The new law requires that every licensed hygienist complete at least 20 (twenty) hours of con-tinuing education for every bien-nial renewal period
Continuing education require-ments for Registered Dental As-sistants (RDA) are unchanged and remain at 10 (ten) hours for each biennial registration period
The Board has determined that the new continuing education re-quirements for Registered Dental Hygienists will become effective with the biennial registration peri-od running from January 1 2006 to December 31 2007 For this current period (expiring on De-cember 31 2005) the continuing education requirements for Reg-istered Dental Hygienist renewal will remain at 10 (ten) hours
Please be reminded that all li-censees of the Board of Dentistry are required to maintain proof of attendance at Continuing Educa-tion courses for at least two bi-ennial registration periods All li-censees of the Board of Dentistry are subject to random audits for compliance The failure to com-plete or maintain proof of con-tinuing education could subject a licensee to Board disciplinary action to include fines and other penalties
