Saint Joseph’s is a family thing! What do Isabella Cederquist and Sophia and Grace Howie have in
common? They all have parents who went to Saint Joseph’s! Sophia
and Grace’s dad, Justin graduated from 6th grade in 1995 (there was
no middle school here then), and Isabella’s mom, Benita Cederquist
attended school here too! Speaking of alumni, Noah Clark from the
Class of 2011, will be appearing as an extra in the Western “Hostiles”
starring Christian Bale which will be released this summer. When not
appearing in movies, Noah has been attending classes at Front Range
Community College and interning in the Marketing Department of the
Denver Art Museum. Mrs. Kinney’s art classes have really paid off!
Read the entire Bible in a year! Are you fuzzy about Habakkuk? Not sure who Ahab’s wife was?
Don’t know Timothy from Titus? Then take the Saint Jerome
Challenge and read the entire Bible in a year! Saint Jerome did all
the difficult work for us by translating the Bible from Hebrew and
Greek into Latin. By spending just fifteen minutes a day with the Bible,
you can read all of God’s word in one year. Remember Saint Jerome’s
famous words – “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” So get
yourself a good Catholic Study Bible and start reading. If you are up
for the challenge, e-mail [email protected] for the
plan. We will celebrate your accomplishment during Catholic Schools
Week next year!
Catholic Schools Week: January 29-February 4 Are you ready to celebrate Catholic schools and the gift of a Catholic
education? Let’s do it beginning with the 11:30am Mass on Sunday at
Saint Joseph Catholic Church!
On Tuesday, parents, volunteers and Board members are invited to
swing by the Cougar Café at 8:15am for a continental breakfast. RSVP
to [email protected] by 1pm tomorrow.
Other fun activities are listed on the attached 2017 Catholic Schools
Week Schedule of events, including a visit to the Starbooks Café in
the library! If you’d like to be a barista and serve hot cocoa to our
students, please email [email protected].

Applause
Congratulations to
Morgan Carlson, kindergarten,
for receiving a BIG trophy for the
courage she showed participating
in the Mutton Bustin’ competition
during the Pro Rodeo at the
National Western Stock Show
earlier this month.
Special thanks to Kate Orr,
Julie Tynan and Ann Woodley,
Teacher Appreciation Lunch
Coordinators, and our 6th grade
families for the Taste of Italy
lunch last week. The lasagna,
salads, soup and dessert
were bellissimo!
The Feast of Saint Blaise
One of the gifts of attending a Catholic school is celebrating the rich
traditions of the Catholic faith. Blessing of the Throats on the
Feast of Saint Blaise is such a tradition. This year, our priests and
deacons will be visiting classrooms and blessing each child’s throat on
February 2nd (instead of February 3rd due to staff development).
While we invoke Saint Blaise for his protection against any physical
ailment of the throat, it is suggested that students pray for protection
from all evil - physical and spiritual - which may attack the throat,
including gossip, profanity, and unkind remarks.
Friends of the Bible Book Club
Did you know your child has been invited to be a part of our Friends of
the Bible/Friends of the Faith Club? Encourage your child to read and
retell stories of our faith to you, or a school staff member. For each
story recorded on the attached log, students earn their way toward a
special celebration at the end of the year. For more details, contact
Ms. Keiss at [email protected].
Summer Enrichment We know that many of you are registering now for summer camps.
That’s why we wanted to give you a heads up about Cougar Camp.
Unfortunately, it will not be offered this summer. However, Vacation
Bible Study will be! Save the dates of Monday, June 5th-Friday, June 9th
and join campers from 9am-12pm for a week of Bible fun, exploration,
and adventure. Cecilia White, Family Life Coordinator, is looking for
adult and youth volunteers. Interested? Please email Cecilia at
[email protected]. Details and the registration form
will be coming home soon, so keep your eyes open!
Saint Joseph Catholic School is committed to providing an education rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Catholic teaching and
academic excellence; which invites students to love God and others, to develop their unique talents and gifts and to become life-long learners.
