CHARTERHOUSEFollowing a Feasibility Study it was
agreed to proceed with works toimprove disabled access and the
associated toilet facilities to the BenTravers Theatre at Charterhouse.
As part of the access scheme, animproved entrance, which included new
lighting and decoration and carpetingtogether with a new Theatre Director’s
office, was constructed utilising theexisting space within the original foyer. Other works included a new DisabledWC and alteration of the kitchen and
bar area.
CASE STUDY #1
WALLACE FIELDSSurrey County Council advised the infant
school an additional 30 children per year fortwo years would require places.
The new classroom scheme included largesunshades to the front and rear elevationsand a playground area to enable ‘free flow’
of children from the new facilities into asafely monitored and controlled area. The
new building has the latest in classroomtechnology including; wet areas, kitchen
spaces, disabled toilets, interactivewhiteboards and air conditioning / inverterunits to provide a green solution to heating
and cooling.
CASE STUDY #2
THE ROYAL SCHOOLThe Royal School required an extension
to provide a first floor viewing gallery totheir Sports Hall. We were commissioned
to provide a Feasibility Study.
A sympathetic extension over an existingchanging area was proposed. An existing
timber frame building was extended byremoving the roof coverings and trusses
and enlarging the building by anadditional storey height. The Sports Hall
end elevation was opened up into theextension to provide an open viewing
area accessed by an internal staircase.
CASE STUDY #3
ST TERESA'S SCHOOLThe Performing Arts Centre, provides
state of the art facilities for the expandingand successful Music and Drama
Departments at St Teresa’s School,Effingham Hill, Dorking, Surrey.
The 750 seat centre provides musicrooms, recording suites, music practice,drama studios and a stage lighting and
sound effects system.
The building has been designed with alower ground floor set into the slope of
the site.

NESCOT LEARNING HUBNESCOT embarked on an ambitious
project to alter and extend their existingbuildings to provide an integrated
learning hub for students with a range ofdisabilities. The centre provides a
Sensory room, Art and Pottery areastogether with IT suites, a shop, Open Plan
Social and Dining areas.
The project breathed new life into anolder part of the college and is part of a
multi million pound redevelopmentscheme which will result in residential
accommodation and new facilities acrossthe whole of the campus.
